I feel that Metropolit has been a major disappointment. To clear the room for Danny in terms of both money and personnel. I would waive Metropolit. He will get claimed which is fine.
The lines will look like this upon Danny's return:
Gagne - Richards - Knuble
Hartnell - Carter - Lupul
Upshall - Briere - Giroux
Cote - Powe - Asham
Not too bad. I like the new 3rd line. Both Giroux and Briere can play the skilled game also while Upshall pounds! Not too many teams can defend three straight skilled lines!
Go Flyers and EAGLES!
Upshall - Briere - Giroux would get absolutely bullied. They would be the smallest line in the NHL, this would not work.
No, they wouldn't. Again, for the 1000th time, Upshall and Giroux are not as small as some people seem to think.
That being said, if Homer can move JOnes, that is who goes.
I hope they trade the overpriced Randy Jones and keep Sbisa.
They have to catch them to hit them - they all fly!
Dude your lines are so perfect. I 100% agree about Metropolit. My understanding was that he would be the 4th line center, they have OVER used Metro. He has been disappointing, all in all I really like your line combo's!
I do like that line up but I agree with MBFlyerfan. Jones needs to go and put Sbisa back in the line up. Flyers would be able to get in under the cap that way. Waiving Metropolit isn't a bad option though.
I could take or leave Metro...he has some puck handling skill but not much more...on a healthy roster he'd be on the 4th line, and I don't think he has the physical game that say, a Powe can bring to that role... though he is some good insurance against another injury to the top 9, I'm not averse to letting him go if the situation calls for it...I don't have a big problem with an Upshall Giroux Briere line...they can all handle themselves and have the speed and skill to rush and create offense. I loved the flash of chemistry Upshall and Giroux showed a couple games ago...inserting Briere there instead of Metro or Powe could make that line click...switch Briere with Richie as needed. As far as cap, I wouldn't mind seeing Lupul and/or Jones go...with Giroux coming up and JVR to follow by sometime next season some room on the top nine needs to be created, and Lupul doesn't seem to bring his "A" game consistently enough to justify his sizeable cap hit after this season.
Lupul is a top 6 guy on this team. Can't let him go. I dont mind Jones as a 3rd pair guy, but he makes alot and Sbisa is a cheaper option without much dropoff.
Message PostedSbisa should go back to Juniors. Parent has earned the right for any callups. If Parent hadn't had shoulder injury this wouldn't even be a discussion. As far as letting Jones go? I'd take Jones any day over either Sbisa or Parent, especially in playoffs. Just because people are impatient regarding his recovery from his surgery is just too bad. Holgrem know what kind of player Jones is and that's why he's still here.
Sbisa should go back to juniors where he can play big minutes and work on the things he needs to work on to stick next year. Kukk will go to the Phantoms, along with Powe (Giroux was already sent down). I doubt that any trades will be made now since Homer won't be dealing from a position of strength if it's perceived that he's only dealing to get under the cap. As the trade deadline approaches, it wouldn't surprise me to see Jones be shopped to a Western Conference team for prospects and / or draft picks, with Parent being promoted back up to the big club

Jones is making 2.5mil. We should get rid of him and play Sbisa, Parent, or Kukkonen...all of which make under a mil. Jones is not that spectacular that he should clearly be playing over these guys. As for Briere, I dont think that he should play until after the all star break. That would give him another week to recover, along with Holgrem another week to deal with the cap issue.
Jones has not been making as many mistakes lately and I agree that he is maturing, but I have to believe either Parent or Sbisa could grow into the spot with less of a time lapse than it has taken Jones.
