A victory at last. Saturday night, the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Colorado Avalanche by a final score of 4-3.
The struggling Avalanche had goals by ex-Jacket Jack Skille (in the first); Jarome Iginla (in the second); and Nathan Mackinnon (in the second), my player to watch. Also, ex-Blue Jackets Nick Holden, Blake Comeau, and Francois Beauchmin each had helpers. Semyon Varlamov stopped 32 of 36 for a 0.889 save percentage.
As for the finally victorious Blue Jackets, Boone Jenner had two goals in the first; and goals from Ryan Murray and Brandon Dubinsky in the final frame, for the comeback win. My player to watch, Brandon Saad, went pointless in the win. This marks the first wins of the season for Sergei Bobrovsky and John Tortorella. Bobs stopped 31 of 34 for a 0.912 save percentage.
