The Bubble Cup Tournament has crowned our 2020 Stanley Cup Champions during the crazy coronavirus pandemic. The winner has been the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bolts winning has shown the best team can win the sport's true prize.
Tampa was part of the round robin for conference seeding with Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington. The fallen foe Dallas Stars dealt with St. Louis, Colorado, and Vegas in their round.
The other teams did their best in the best possible 24 team structure. In the east: Columbus dished Toronto; Carolina swept the Rangers; the Islanders edged the Panthers; and the Canadiens upset the Penguins. In the west: Arizona edged Nashville; Chicago upset Edmonton; Vancouver slid past Minnesota; and Calgary beat up Winnipeg.
Round one witnessed the Cup Champs defeat Columbus; Boston destroy Carolina; Philadelphia edge out Montreal; and New York dominate Washington. On the other side of the coin; Vancouver upset St. Louis; Dallas run through Calgary; Colorado slide by Arizona; and Vegas beat out Chicago.
Round two had Tampa beat Boston cleanly; and New York upset Philadelphia. The West had Vegas barely beat Vancouver, and Dallas upset Colorado.
The final four led to a close call by Tampa over New York and Dallas dominate Vegas.
The final led to Steven Stamkos in his single game push the Bolts over the edge for Tampa Bay to win their first Cup since 2004.
The insanity down in the Sunshine State since Tampa's win has shown all over social media with Tampa's downtown square full of fans. Being there before, that is the best area for the fans to celebrate and distance properly. This place is the best for a distancing parade and for the sport to grow as a whole.
The future of Tampa is going to be the biggest hit for them over the next couple months as they will lose defensemen Shattenkirk, Schenn, and Rutta; goalies Condon and Wedgewood; and winger Maroon.
