In a recent article written by The Hockey News, Sean McInode, or known on Twitter as @DownGoesBrown, wrote an article about five "ridiculous" trades that almost happened.
The one trade that was Columbus central was former first round pick Gilbert Brule to be flipped to the Vancouver Canucks for Cory Schneider.
Imagine Cory Schneider as the number one goalie in Columbus. He was developed into a star goalie courtesy of Roberto Luongo and good development in the Canucks organization.
After being traded to New Jersey, and learning from Martin Brodeur, he has become an elite goalie, and maybe a top ten goalie in the league.
With Gilbert Brule, he was a former top 10 draft pick that ran into injury problems his entire professional career. He was eventually flipped to Edmonton for Raffi Torres, and wound up in Arizona.
What are your thoughts on this trade?
