CBJ Post-Game No. 71- Bjork Brings Back Win
On a milestone night for head coach John Tortorella, his Columbus Blue Jackets brought home a big win against the New Jersey. The final score was 6-3.
The Devils started scoring in the second period, with two power play goals in a span of 3:15. Kyle Palmieri potted the first goal in for his 26th of the season; Damon Severson and Travis Zajac had the helpers. The other second period goal came from Adam Henrique for his 26th of the year; Palmieri had the lone assist. 49 seconds into the final frame, Palmeiri scored his second of the game and 27th of the season; Reid Boucher and Zajac had the helpers. Goaltending was a struggle tonight for New Jersey, as Keith Kinkaid had the replaced by Yann Danis. Kinkaid stopped 16 of 19 shots for a 0.842 save percentage (84.2%); Danis stopped 12 of 15 for a 0.800 save percentage (80%).
Columbus had an offensive explosion during this contest. In the first frame, the Jackets scored twice. At 11:33, Cam Atkinson scored his 25th goal of the season on the power play; Alex Wennberg had the only assist. At 14:56, Seth Jones scored his 3rd of the season; Brandon Dubinsky had the lone assist. 2:50 in the second, Boone Jenner netted his 25th of the season; Dalton Prout had the lone assist on the goal. In the third, the Jackets scored twice in 11 seconds, and added another later on. Oliver Bjorkstrand socred his 1st NHL goal in his second NHL game at 1:23; Wennberg and Matt Calvert had the assists. At 1:34, William Karlsson scored his 9th of the season; Gregory Campbell and Michael Chaput had the assists. At 6:38, Bjorkstrand scored his 2nd of the game and of the season; Calvert had the lone assist. Sergei Bobrovsky made 27 saves on 30 shots faced for a 0.900 save percentage (90%).
