The Hurricanes lone goal was the first one of the game, which came in the first period. Jeff Skinner scored his 28th of the season; Jacon Slavin and Viktor Rask had the assists. Eddie Lack was the starting netminder for the Hurricanes, and he stopped 22 of 27 for a 0.915 save percentage (91.5%).
After the first goal of the game, the Jackets came alive. Brandon Saad scored a natural hat trick stretching through two periods of play. At 9:21 of the third period, Oliver Bjorkstrand scored his third of the season; Matt Calvert had the lone assist. Joonas Korposalo was in between the pipes for the Blue Jackets, and he stopped 26 of 27 for a 0.963 save percentage (96.3%).
