On Tuesday night, Military Appreciation Night, the Columbus Blue Jackets lost to the Vancouver Canucks by a final score of 5-3. This is the first time John Tortorella played his former team, and the veterans of the opposing team avoided Columbus from getting their first home win of the season.
For the Canucks, the top line had four of the team's five goals- Jannik Hansen, Daniel Sedin, and Henrik Sedin (2). The other goal scorer was ex-Penguin Brandon Sutter. Other players that got points include rookie Ben Hutton and former Buckeye Matt Bartkowski. My player to watch, Sven Baertschi, was a +1 with one shot on net. Jacob Markstrom stopped 42 of 45 shots against by the Jackets for a 0.933 save percentage (93.3%).
For the Jackets, their goal scorers were Boone Jenner; Jack Johnson; and Cam Atkinson. Other players that got points include Scott Hartnell; David Savard; and Ryan Johansen. Joey, my player to watch, had two assists against his hometown team. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 25 of 29 shots against for a 0.862 save percentage (86.2%).
CBJ Three Stars of the Night
1. Boone Jenner- one goal (8th of season), one assist
2. Ryan Johansen- two assists
3. Cam Atkinson- one goal (4th goal of season)
