Thanksgiving getting to me. Maybe. In this weird rumor blog, I discuss the Ryan Johansen rumors in Columbus
Let's start with the facts- Darren Dreger reported that Blue Jackets center Ryan Johansen might be available as teams have called Columbus about his availability. Also, one team said he is "softly" in play.
Let's state the obvious- Every star player gets discussed over the course of the careers. That has never changed. Never. NEVER.
Let's state the logistics- Every team needs a number one center. (Some) teams in the Western Conference prefer a one and a one A system. Teams that need number one centers include Nashville, Arizona, and Toronto. Some teams that may need or want an upgrade may include Ottawa, Florida, Vancouver, and Carolina.
Let's state the opinion- It is insane his name is mentioned in trade rumors. He is on a very good team that is (one) getting out of a slump and (two) getting better as the years go by. Why would Columbus want to trade a number one center? Who would even replace him in Columbus? What would they even get for him besides (maybe) a first round pick?
Let's see who'd I ask for from each team for Johansen
From Anaheim: Shea Theodore, Nick Ritchie, and a first round pick
From Arizona: Oliver Ekman-Larsson (straight up). He's that good.
