This afternoon, the Columbus Blue Jackets have placed defenseman Kevin Connuaton on waivers for purpose of assignment to the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL). Connuaton, 25, was a third round pick of the Vancouver Canucks in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He was dealt to the Dallas Stars in exchange for center man Derek Roy. Connuaton was claimed off waivers by Dallas midway through the 2014-15 season, and went through a major hot streak in December 2014, having 11 points in that month.
With a young defenseman like that being sent to the minors, will he be picked up? Here a list of teams that might be after him.
1. Colorado Avalanche- their defensive woes are so bad that they picked up AHL defender Andrew Bodnarchuk.
2. Florida Panthers. Lots of youth on the backend.
3. Edmonton Oilers. They could give an opportunity to him as they don't like some of their defensemen.
More to come…
