Last night, the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Ottawa Senators by a final score of 4-2.
Ottawa got both their goals in the final frame. Bobby Ryan netted his 20th goal of the season two minutes into the third period. With less than five minutes left into the game, Cody Ceci got his 6th goal of the year. Mika Zibanejad got assists on both goals; and Erik Karlsson and Dion Phaneuf each got assists. Mike Hoffman was my player to watch, and was a plus/minus -1 on the night. He played 16:27 and put 5 shots on Korpi. Craig Anderson stopped 36 of 39 Blue Jackets shots faced for a 0.923 save percentage (92.3%).
Before going into Columbus, best of luck to the recovery of Senators' defenseman Mark Borowiecki, who suffered an injury in the second period after crashing into the boards after being involved in a puck battle with Brandon Saad. I heard the injury does not seem to be sereious, but there will be an update on President's Day.
As for Columbus, the Blue Jackets found consistency in every period, and scored a goal on Craig Anderson in each frame. Boone Jenner scored first and last tonight, plotting goals 18 and 19 on the season. Boone's goal in the first period came 89 seconds into the game, where his second goal came with 14 seconds remaining. Cam Atkinson scored 6 minutes into the second period. This goal is his 19th on the year. Brandon Sadd scored the final goal on Anderson with less than 6 minutes remaining in the game. Other players with points include Seth Jones (2), Brandon Dubinsky, Scott Hartnell, and Alex Wennberg. Jack Johnson was my player to watch, and was a plus/minus +1 on the night, and logged 19:38 of ice time. Joonas Korpisalo stopped 33 of 35 shots for a for a 0.943 save percentage (94.3%).
