CBJ- Goalie Going Soon?? Look at the Depth

Even though I have heard nothing in regards to trade rumors at this point in time, the Blue Jackets may have to look into their goaltending depth as a result of the hot streak of current goaltender Joonas Korpisalo.

The Jackets have a good amount of depth behind starting goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, even though most of them are prospects.

First is the veteran- Curtis McElhinney. He is 32 years old, and is in my eyes, an AHL starter. He is a journeyman goaltender, plying in Calgary, Ottawa, Anaheim, and Arizona during his tenure in the NHL.

Next is the guy that has really impacted the Blue Jackets since the loss of Bobs- Korpi. The Finnish netminder has been a diamond in the rough for the Jackets this year, and has been 10-7-4 in his rookie year. After this impressive steak, he has raised question marks about the future of Big Mac.

The next guy has been a stud in the AHL, not at the NHL- Anton Forsberg. The Sweede was one of the top goalies in the A last year. Once he perfects his game, he could become something in the NHL.

Sticking with Sweeden, next up is Oscar Dansk. Because of Forsberg taking over the starting position in the A, he went to his hometown team to play as a starter there. In Rogle, he has a 2.89 GAA and a 0.905 save percentage in 32 games played.

Finally, there is Elvis Merzlikins, the Latvian goalie the Jackets selected in 2014. Merzlikins is 21 years of age, and plays for HC Lugano of the NLA. This year, he is 14-9-0 with a 0.913 save percentage.
