With the recent contract extensions to Boone Jenner and Ryan Murray, do fans around the league already know what the Blue Jackets will pay Seth Jones? Or, since he is a proven commodity from another team, could we see a Brandon Saad like deal for the defenseman?
Boone Jenner, 22, set a career high in goals with 22, and only managed a bridge deal that earns him under $3 million. Jenner is tied with a career high in assists (13) and has 35 points in 64 games this season.
Ryan Murray, 22, is tied with a career high 4 goals and 16 points for 20 points in 64 games played. He is one point away from career highs in assists (17), points (21), and games played (66). Murray signed a two year deal with an average salary of $2.85 million per season. Murray was the 2nd overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Brandon Saad, 23, is having a career year in the goal scoring department with 24 on the season. He is 13 assists away from a career high in assists; he has 16 this year. The Pittsburgh native has won the Stanley Cup with Chicago twice. When Columbus acquired him, they immediately gave him a 6 year, $36 million dollar contract.
The question for the Jackets management is if he has proven enough in his younger career. Will he get a bridge deal or a long term deal?
What are your thoughts on Seth Jones? The other contract extensions?
