Welcome to another edition of CBJ Progression, and today's blog will discuss the success of professional scouting. Even though we have seen guys like Artemi Pinarian, Sergei Plotkniov, Viktor Tikhonov, and Evgeny Mevedev appear this year, there are other under the radar guys that the Blue Jackets.
Right of the preseason, Swedish center William Karlsson made the Jackets' main roster. Wild Bill played a third line center role, and also played penalty kill. Karlsson had 20 points this season after coming in a trade last year with Anaheim for James Wisniewski.
In the early course of the regular season, Jackets fans saw Finnish winger Markus Hanniaken, who played two games prior to suffering a long term shoulder injury. More Monster fans saw him in a bottom six role.
After the Jackets' injuries to the goalies, fans saw the rise of Finnish netminder Joonas Korpisalo and the same old (Sweden) Anton Forsberg.
After the trade deadline, the Jackets experimented with their lineups by integrating youngsters into lineup. Two Europe players that were brought into the lineup were Danish winger Oliver Bjorkstrand and Swiss defenseman Dean Kukan.
