According to @RumorBreak, a Twitter page run by Michael Grosso, the Columbus Blue Jackets made an an offer to the Toronto Maple Leafs to acquire the first overall pick of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
The deal apparently involved the third overall pick, other draft picks, and prospects.
If Columbus is giving up forward prospects, the deal makes more sense as the Blue Jackets have a boatload of prospects of the way.
Additionally, it would give the Jackets a certified number one center in Auston Matthews.
For Toronto, it makes absolutely no sense as they get the reward for being last and getting back on the right track to the top of the league.
