Coming from Springfield, Massachusetts, the home of the former Blue Jackets affiliate, the Springfield Falcons.
According to multiple outlets, the Columbus Blue Jackets have expressed interest in the services of winger Jimmy Vessey, the highly sought after collegiate free agent. Vessey was a former draft pick of the Nashville Predators, and was flipped to the Buffalo Sabres for a third round pick. He has spent the past several seasons at Harvard.
The list of teams interested in Vessey is large- Philadephia; Tampa Bay; New York Islanders; New York Rangers; New Jersey; Chicago; Boston; Detroit; Columbus; Pittsburgh; Toronto.
Vessey's original list was Pittsburgh, New Jersey, Toronto, Boston, Buffalo, and Chicago.
Vessey wants to join a team that will give him a top six role with maximum salary and bonus on an entry level deal, with an easy opportunity to succeed early.
Pittsburgh just won a Stanley Cup; and Chicago has won three in the past seven seasons.
Buffalo presents Jack Eichel; New Jersey presents Cory Schneider and Taylor Hall.
Toronto presents his father and brother; Boston presents home and his mother.
The decision is down to him.
According to the Hockey Press, the Blue Jackets have expressed interest in winger Guatav Nyquist of the Detroit Red Wings.
The Red Wings are interested in acquiring a top four defenseman as their backend isn't what it used to be.
Columbus is for whatever reason on the search for a young forward that can play top nine minutes when they have prospects on the way.
What are your thoughts on the rumors?
