According to the Hockey Press, the Boston Bruins could be interested in acquiring defenseman David Savard. Savard was a former late round draft pick of the Blue Jackets in 2009. Going back to junior, he won the WHL Defenseman of the year. Savard came up in the Blue Jackets organization by going through the old AHL farm club with the Springfield Falcons, so he has a bit of an idea of what's going on in Massachusetts.
If the Bruins are really calling the Blues Jackets about his services, I feel the Bruins have run out of options on their search for defense. They are interested in Kevin Shttenkirk and Jacob Trouba, but nothing has come from either of those. They brought in Christian Ehrhoff on a PTO, but let him go. Also, I don't know what an asking price would be for David Savard. Maybe a second round pick and mid range prospect at best. Maybe a 3rd and a better prospect. Savard is also Ina long term deal to with cap, so Boston needs some room for the deal.
What are your thoughts on the Savard rumors?
