The Blue Jackets travel to the TD Garden tonight to combat with the Boston Bruins, in what is one of the most underrated rivalries in the NHL.
This is the second half of the back of back games for Columbus after playing Anaheim last night, and winning in overtime. The Bruins last played on Tuesday, suffering a 3-2 regulation loss to the NHL best Montreal Canadiens.
The Bruins and the Blue Jackets have played each other three times before tonight. The Blue Jackets beat the Bruins in Boston in a shootout in a preseason meeting (3-2); the Bruins beat the Blue Jackets in a regulation matchup in Columbus (2-1); and the Bruins beat the Blue Jackets in the regular season home opener for Columbus (6-3).
Tonight continues the rivalry between the Jackets and Bruins that could be dated back to November/December 2014, but I'll explain more in a later blog.
As for the lineups tonight, the Bruins are going with same lineup as Tuesday, but announced the injury of forward Noel Acciari; and the starter is Tukka Rask. The Blue Jackets are expected to have the same lineup, but announced the recall of winger Markus Hannikanen; and the starter is Sergei Bobrovsky.
Projected Lineups

Tim Schaller--Dominic Moore--Jimmy Hayes
Zdeno Chara--Brandon Carlo
Torey Krug--Adam McQuaid
John-Michael Liles--Colin Miller

Injured: Noel Acciari, Frank Vatrano, Kevin Miller, Anton Khudobin
Columbus Blue Jackets
Scott Hartnell--Alex Wennberg--Nick Foligno
Brandon Saad--Boone Jenner-Cam Atkinson
Matt Calvert--William Karlsson--Josh Anderson
Sonny Milano--Lukas Sedlak--Sam Gagner
Zach Werenski--David Savard
Ryan Murray--Jack Johnson
Markus Nutivarra--Dalton Prout

Curtis McElhinney
Scratched: Scott Harrington, Markus Hannikanen
Injuries: Brandon Dubinsky, David Clarkson, Seth Jones
Players to Watch
Boston: Torey Krug. The Michigan State Spartan defenseman has only two points in 13 games. The 25 year old defenseman is expected to be the top defenseman once captain Zdeno Chara retires from the game.
Columbus: Matt Calvert. After having a rough night last night in the penalty box, he needs to discipline himself and stay on the ice. He only has one goal this year, and is capable of producing more than that.
Enjoy the games tonight. And Military Appreciation Night in Boston. More to come...
