Happy December everyone!!! The countdown to Christmas begins.
The Blue Jackets are back on the ice tonight in the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado to take on the Avalanche.
These two teams are playing each other for the first time since the trade they made late last week- swapping depth defensemen Cody Goloubef and Ryan Stanton.
These two squads also recently played each other in Columbus, resulting in an overtime loss for Columbus. So retribution may be on the mind of the visitors tonight.
With it being a quarter way through the season, it's also crazy to see former Blue Jacket Rene Bourque lead the Avs in goals with eight. Also, Nate MacKinnon and Matt Duchene are tied for the team lead in points with 15. For Columbus, there are three players tied with the most goals (8)- Sam Gagner, Cam Atkinson, and Nick Foligno. The leader in the points department is a tie between Atkinson and Alex Wennberg.
In terms of the lineups tonight, Gabriel Landeskog has been placed on IR with a lower body injury. Gabriel Bourque and Sam Henley have been recalled from the AHL to aid the Avalanche. Seymon Varlamov will be the starter tonight. Expect the same lineups and Sergei Bobrovsky to be the starter.

Players to Watch
Colorado: Jarome Iginla. Iggy is surprisingly on the fourth line in Denver, and his career stats show that he is not that type of player. The successful veteran bought into the belief in Colorado that they could be a serious Stanley Cup contender in the next three years, and that has not happened. Expect him to maybe be moved at the deadline.
Columbus: Scott Hartnell. Sticking with the theme of veteran forwards above, Hartsy has been able to stick it out in Columbus, even with an up and down relationship with John Tortorella. Hartnell was moved up to the third line recently with Calvert injured, and has been able to execute as of late.
Enjoy the games tonight.
More to come...
