First I need to thank a ton of people. A shout out to all the Flyers fan Club folks I saw tonight. Very good to see all of you as always. Theresa that was a great story and an awesome experience for you.

The Fly Fan, Radoran, Hockey Fan as always a pleasure to hang out. Free Downie!

My new neighbors for seats very nice to meet you all. The guy at the back the beer was really wet.

Anyway on to the report and of course the pictures and videos....

(youtube made me split the video. sorry gang)

I got there late for the pre game warmup so not a great spot for pics but I did my best. Yes I took pics of the islanders too. Not near as many as the Flyers but I did take some.

I was impressed just walking in tonight. They had orange carpet laid out everywhere as you first walked in a strobe light, and balloons everywhere. We got Free "back with a Vengeance" Shirts and Schedule magnets.

The lines tonight for concessions for whatever reason were really long and slow so I skipped my cup of water and went to my seats.
The opening montage was awesome! I find great irony in that the Flyers slogan is "Back with a Vengeance" considering recent events. I think the opening was great and you could tell that the crowd was ready to see the 07-08 Flyers. "Let's go Flyers" chants where up and running you can hear them during the video sequence.

Then my new neighbors I am going to call the the guys at the back mostly cause they sit behind me and since Waldorf and Stetter (yes the guys for the muppets) is already taken. They were classic tonight. I wish I would have recorded their on going dialogue the whole game cause I just can't say how interesting their discussion was about all things in Flyerland. The one thing they said that will from here on out stick is that Derian Hatcher is the Pat Burrell of the Flyers and that he will have a killer year. So thus they rename Hatcher to be Derian "the Stick" Hatcher. I think for the sake of everyone that I will just call him Burrell makes a better reference. The other discussion were what order the Flyers would hand the Stanley cup around to the team, The Conn Smythe Trophy would it go to Biron, Richards or Gagne. More discussion on Hatcher, he was now up to a 40 goal season per my new found commentators (hatcher then promptly broke up a 2 on one). Anyway you can see what interesting thought were going on.

I thought that the Flyers looked great tonight for the first 2 periods. There was a much more disciplined play going on or the refs put their whistles away because the penalties were not called like they were last year. The third period they came out just flat. I am not sure what took the air out of them but it seemed at least for the first half of the third that the spark and drive and everything had burst during the intermission. I was extremely happy that Jason Smith got the 3rd goal. I know that is sentimental of me but I think that it was awesome how he block the shot and then sealed it all with and empty net goal.

Walking out the crowd could not have been happier. "Let's go Flyers" chants were rampant throughout the building for the good 10 minutes or so to filter to the escalator and out. (thank goodness no EAGLES chants)

It was a great night. I hope that you all enjoyed the game on TV or live. I get to do this all again next Saturday.

im loving the play of smith. he was a superb addition.and you missed one of the best parts of the game - the 300 themed welcome to the season being set to nine inch nails. holy crap!by the way that hatcher discussion is disturbing. thank god i didnt hear that up in 204a (thats where my season tix are). but then again we had the isles fans in the box above us attempting to taunt. yeah, our section was the one starting a lot of a-hole chants. go figure.
