First what a great night. Flyers did not play their best but they managed to win.
The first and third periods were good. The 2nd period was horrible, just absolutely horrible. I was glad to see that it didn't continue in the third. I liked that Stevens changed up the lines a bit. I thought Hartnell had a really physical game tonight. I thought Lupul also was very strong in his desire for the puck. Dowd's line was definitely a good boost of energy everytime they came out. Biron was awesome. The one glove save just rocked my world.
I took with me tonight one of my co workers to her first NHL game. We got there early and I sat right against the glass for pregame skate cause I wanted her to get right close to the players. The ones that impressed her the most in warm up were Smith and Potulny. To the point she wanted to get a Smith jersey which changed when she found out the price.
Anyway, Potulny gave lots of pucks to kids during warmup as did several other players. Mr Hartnell hooked my friend up with her first ever puck and we went up to our seats. Where i met up with people I hadn't seen for ages. Weird how the world works like that.
I did alot of cheering tonight and explaining hockey. I took some pics and video. Now I am going to crash into my bed. Hope you all enjoy. Night everyone.

Brion stole if for you... he played great, the rest of the team not so much.
Biron has been playing exceptional, but if you review the game, as I have, then you may see where the game was more back and forth, tic for tac, with but a few exceptions. Sure, the Canes outshot the Flyers 44 to 30, but I'd be curious to know how many more shots they got off on their PP. I did nod off when watching the game a second time (sometime, after the halfway mark of the second period -- so maybe it was in that stretch where the Canes took their hardest run at the Flyers), but from what I did see, even in the first half of the second period, this was a great contest, with each team having thier share of scoring opportunities, back and forth. Could have gone a different way? I suppose it could have been the Canes who pulled it out, but considering they were on the second game of a back to back, and given the determination with which the FLyers have been playing, the more determined and fresh team one the game, as it should have been. Accept it; the Canes lost to a good team, playing determined hockey, and with fresher legs.
I think that most of the team had an average performance there were a few really digging and trying to create good things. Biron is just rocking in net right now.
yo cptjeff how can you say he stole the game for us when there were what 40 shots and almost none of them were a challenge because of the way the defense was playing. Every shot was a point blank shot. Coburn, Richards, Hartnell, Gagne, Biron won the game for us. Biron didn't just steal it.
I don't know if I understand the comment about every shot being point blank and then Biron didn't steal the game. The defense did keep most all traffic to the outside and weren't really panic stricken at any point; but, the tam is spending way too much time in their own zone for extended periods of time and if not for the upgrade in goal and defense we'd be in the same spot as last year. The team needs to drill getting the puck out of the zone and breaking out without getting caught flatfooted and out manned at the other end.
