Dear Mr Peter Forsberg,
Let me first introduce myself. I am the nice lady who smiles and loves to take pictures at Flyers practices and games. I am a Flyers die hard but don't hold that against me.
Mr Forsberg, the reason I am writing this letter today is that I would like you to remove Philadelphia from the list of teams that you are considering signing with in the next few weeks. I love you as a player. I have watched you for a long time and have greatly enjoyed the performances you have put on. I will never forget many things I have seen you do. the one thing I do not want is to see you in orange in black anytime soon.
This years Flyers are interesting on paper. It is in person that you have to experience them. This is a tight knit close young team. Your experience as welcome as it maybe will upset the balance of this team. I plead with you, Mr Holmgren and anyone else who may have a say, to not upset that balance.
I love watching this Flyers team they work hard for each other. They have become accountable to each other, the coach and most importantly the fans.
I truly do not want the media circus that you bring Mr Forsberg. Please look elsewhere in the NHL for a home. Thank you for your time. Good luck and may your career continue happily elsewhere.
Love Always
Lady Nic
Sorry lady but your nuts
I am so conflicted on this issue. On one hand, it could be a complete disaster bringing him back...upsetting the chemistry and all that, like you said. But, if he truly is able to play the way he did when he first got to Philly, and the team continues on the way it's been going, it could be very dangerous. The man is a beat when he is on his game. Oh well, I guess we just have to leave it up to Homer and the guys who get paid to think about this kind of stuff!
This doesn't reflect the majority of Flyers' fans. Adding Forsberg to an already balanced, potent attack will only increase production which will lead to even more wins. Presuming Peter's healthy, his comeback with the Flyers would be welcomed with open arms because we all know what he brings: point-per-game production, tenacity, grit and most importantly heart. I would certainly rather have him play with us than against us. Here's to looking forward to Peter's comeback with the Flyers.
I agree. The fact that he's shopping for a Cup contender makes me feel that he's just in it for the history books. You do have a contender team. With or without Mr. Forsberg. You have made an unpopular statement, but I think it is valid.
I am torn on this issue but I think I am with you.
but lady - we can blame foppa if he comes to the team and we have playoff issues!
We'll take him!
I have moved beyond whether *I* think it's a good idea, or if *I* want him back in Philly; and am trying to just wait it out and see what happens--pulling for the boys either way.
I agree with you, You already have solid first two lines and if Foppa does join he will ruin it. He needs to go to a team which has a lots of vets like detroit.
Foppa come back!!! You will jump start Gags game!!! Come back to start what didn't get finshed.
Man.... I have been conflicted on this. I have a total man-crush for Foppa. If the footie issue is not 100% resolved... I say no. However, if he's back to being able to play there is an argument either way.1] Negative - The team plays as a team of all equal parts right now. "Who is the hot guy this week" seams to be the motto. With Peter back will they try to keep feeding him the puck? Will players do less with the puck because of a fast pass to Foppa? The power play is 1st because the scoring comes through everyone.... with it all go thru Foppa if he's on ice?2] Positives - Gagne and Briere are struggling of late. Briere has shown some chemistry with others. If you reunite the Gagne/Foppa/Knuble line and make a new line for Briere then you might get much more production. Gagne and Briere seam to be missing the mark of late and it may be hard of paper to split them up. Also... with Foppa on a power play he might make these units move the puck even better. The chemistry of the team might be less of an issue [or a positive one] since he has played well with Gagne and Knuble in the past.I an very torn. I guess I'll be happy either way.
Ya I do notttt agree with this statement at all. By the way I have met this girl she stood in line at the season ticket holder meet and greet with us and she def is a die hard. But to ask for one of the worlds best players not to come back to a team where he fits on a line of Gagne and Knuble is crazy. The media circus will last one week and then all will be well before the playoffs start. And unless you can convince Paul Holmgren that this is a bad move your voice is futile. A decision will be made by the end of the week. We will see. Can't wait for Hextall night tonight!
I would rather his salary go towards a puck moving, powerplay quarterback STUD defenseman - Boyle, Blake, etc...to help us. Randy Jones is not someone I want on my powerplay come playoff time. Foppa is not the answer. Powerplay goals are the answer and low, hard, accurate shots on net are how we get there. Imagine if we could get someone who could take the burnen off Jason Smith (I cringed last night as he turned the puck over late in the 3rd on the breakout) and who would give us someone to complement Timonen and Coburn. Just my two cents... SYF
p.s. I love Jason Smith, I just do not want him handling the puck anywhere near the end of the game.
Lady Flyer. I usually agree with you but think there is a spot for Forsberg that you are greatly overlooking. Between Briere and Gagne, there is yet chemistry and Gagne and Forsberg had great chemistry before. I think this team is also fully aware that they can with without Foppa if he were to go down. They didn't have that confidence previously. Messing with anything right now chemistry wise is dangerous because we are on such a good roll, however Briere, Foppa, and Gagne would be magic along with out other lines. It would be scoring madness!
SYF how is that you see power play as a problem? Have you seen our PP ranking? I would trust Jones more than someone else who might not mix in right now (Forsberg is a mix because he played great with Gagne).
Flyer - what I mean by that is the following. Forsberg may be damaged goods. Noone knows. I am ont sure he knows. Our team and powerplay are clicking with chemistry. Chemistry is a funny thing. It is not infinite and can be ruined by mucking about with changes in forwards. IF you can get a stud Dman, not some schlub off the street, then you have the chance to not only improve an already lethal powerplay, BUT also aid in the transition game which is where we have troubles sometimes. The first pass is critical in a break out and I would love a guy who is more adept at doing that. Also someone who can get point shots through, low on the ice can NEVER be a disadvantage. Do I love what Foppa did while he was here - hell yes. Would I rather spend the same dollars on someone younger, with better wheels and fit more of a need than another forward? Yes. Give me a top flight Dman and we will do deeper than a maybe healthy Peter the Great. Just my two cents) SYF
