“And lastly I’ll say that there’s one other guy in hockey today that is still working in the game that has won more Stanley Cups than me. So I think I know a little bit about winning, if there’s ever a concern.”

Almost one year ago Lowe threw up that line onto reporters microphones, thereby providing ammunition for them and everyone else to take aim at in the future. I count myself as one of those people who loves to take aim at the Oilers management and how dysfunctional it is. It is partly because I’m a Flames fan, partly because of jealousy in the draft picks they take away from other teams (including the Flames) and a little about how they mismanage those picks.

Kevin Lowe is repulsive. His egotism exudes off him like bad cologne. Worse is his delusion about winning, or that he thinks he knows about it. By making the infamous “I know about winning” comment he basically ignores it had anything to do with the best player to ever play, the best leader in modern history, a game changing offensive defenseman and the quickest coked up goalie of the 80’s. Nope, it was HIS Stanley cup rings that dictate his in depth knowledge of the game.

Under Kevin Lowe the Oilers have sunk to laughing stock, now with even Oiler fans whom I begrudgingly admire for being loyal this long, throwing $200.00 jerseys on the ice in disgust.

Why does this continue? The answer is Katz has zero balls. Zero balls. “No Balls” Katz should have gutted this management team long ago. Look what getting guys who know did for St. Louis with John Davidson. Katz should have fired someone when they showed Taylor Hall faking a smile when his team “Won” choosing first over all the next year. They humiliate their best prospect by showering in confetti for coming last as if it was something to celebrate. Katz didn’t though. He’s the owner, it’s his prerogative not to fire someone for celebrating being losers, but if his other companies showed this incompetence they’d have purged their executives long ago. He’s not a hockey guy and has no one good to be in his ear…except Lowe.

So my challenge to Kevin Lowe is this: Take one ring off for every time your team picks first overall in the draft. Give it to charity, or tell people you’ll only put them back on if the Oilers win again. Just do not tell us you know about winning.

I write this out of frustration. It should be the Oilers time here soon and yet they’re no where close. If the Flames are bad it gives us fans a chance to cheer for the spoilers but now we just feel sorry for you Oiler fans. We are sorry for you…is that not so much worse?

jero is the next colbert with this kind of satirical wit: How to improve the Oilers Defense through Trades and through the draft Well since the goal of this blog is as the header states, I will rule out Free Agency as an explorable option. With what appears to be a pretty high draft pick in 2013, some might say we can simply pick a defenseman and insert him into the line up
