Frustrated Flames Fan

Posted 12:59 PM ET | Comments 12
I guess "frustrated" would be the best way to sum it up right now.

I'm frustrated because the hill to climb seems too steep to make the playoffs, and I'm frustrated because I know this version of the Flames will tease me right until the end of the season, winning a few where they can and getting close.

I'm frustrated because I know they will miss the playoffs by probably 2-4 points and I can remember a few games that should have been won that would have made the difference.

I'm frustrated because I see Iginla as the only true skilled forward we have but no matter who is brought in they do not play well with him consistently, there's a reason no centers work with him, he's the common denominator. He's also the only reason we can hope most nights there will be a goal, that is pretty frustrating.

I'm frustrated that if the Flames miss the playoffs I can not look forward to the draft and wonder what they will be going after, and I'm sure that if Sutter trades for a pick he will parlay it into two lesser picks as he always does, stocking our system with grinders and nobody's.

I'm frustrated that management has burned an entry level year on Backlund and continue to sit him, maybe one of the few guys who can actually learn and get better while still helping is sitting in favor of Nigel Dawes.

I'm frustrated that Calgary wasted two great trade bait players on spare parts that have not really added to the team as opposed to adding quality players and draft picks.

It's frustrating that there is obviously something behind the scenes that prohibits Langkow, Calgary's best center, from playing with Iginla, Calgary's best winger. It's really frustrating to see the Flames top line center is Matt Stajan, a player the hockey news stated as "...a player every team needs but if he's on your scoring lines you're in trouble."

I'm frustrated that Jay Bouwmeester is a huge flop. I'm also frustrated that after he continues to suck next season he will be traded for nothing.

I'm frustrated that Kipper is playing lights out and they can't score, or they can score but he isn't or they play well at home but not on the road or they play well on the road but not at home. I guess their inconsistency is consistently frustrating.

I'm frustrated that we look to the farm and see nothing to be excited about, the oilers may suck but at least they can look forward to Magnus Paarvi and Eberle and perhaps now Hall (yes they will take hall over seguin given the opportunity).

It's frustrating to know that even if the Flames by some miracle do make the playoffs will be easily ousted in the first round, giving their detractors another thing to gloat over.

Right now I wish I didn't love this team so much...it's really frustrating.

I feel for you friend. Sutter really has made a mess of this franchise. I think the team needs to be blown up, and build from the beggining. I know it hurts to hear it, but the core should be dealt now to get a good return, rather then watch the age further and not have any support and accomplish nothing.

I totally agree with all your points. Frustrated is probably the most pollitically correct way to say how I really feel.

I agree with everything you said! Being a Flames fan isn't easy.Hating the Oilers and laughing at their misfortune isn't even something we can revel in. They will not make the playoffs but they will get real god draft picks and be back very soon. Us...not so much. No picks and nothing on the horizon. When Sutter took over, he stated the cupboards were bare. Well my friend they are empty now!!

What the hell is wrong with the comments on this stupid MYHB? Yet another reason why this site sucks, they never get properly posted. Anyway i agree with you generally. Future is bleak and the first thing the Flames need to do is get rid of Darryl and get someone fresh in here.

flamminghe- I was not aware of that, thanks! Nemisz, Wahl, Backlund, Howse...there are a few but the rerality is that we do not have a really exciting prospect out there except for Backlund...who continues to sit.

1. Or even 100.

The plus sign doesn't show up on this site? WTF?

Mitch Wahl was named Spokane Chiefs player of the year, not WHL Player of the year. He couldn't even make the USA Junior team. He certainly isn't better than guys like Eberle, Kozun, Cunningham, Schenn, Eakin, and the list goes on
