With no football to contend with, the NHL All-Star Game might actually gain some viewers in the U.S. I hope and pray that Versus does the All-Star Game justice and that neither Timonen or Richards gets hurt.

Without further ado...

10 Reasons to Watch: East

1. Andre Markov is on a pace to set personal highs in goals, assists and points for Les Habitants. Will he light it up in Atlanta?

2. Will Brian Campbell be denied access to the rink because Carrot Top (Carrotop - sp?) is already in the building? Just kidding Sabres fans...

3. Will Tomas Kaberle's Maple Leaf Mojo have ill effects on Eastern Conference All-Stars or will the firing of JFJ and the return of Fletch lift the curse against the house of Toronto?

Fletch: "Give each other 20 dollars and put it on the Underhill bill."
Waiter: "Ahhh muchas gracias!"
Fletch: "Tierra del fuego.

4. Who will have the most mind numbing goal of the game - Vinny, AO or Kovy? My pick is AO...is playing like a man who just signed a big contract and has something to prove.

5. Will Tim Thomas, Ricky D and Tomas Vokoun play well enough for someone to tell me why in the name of Terry-Freakin-Sawchuck weren't Martin Brodeur (26 wins), Henrick Lundqvist (7 shutouts) and Cristobal Huet (.924 SV% and the guy who won the job in Montreal away from Halak and Price) picked instead??? I happen to like Ricky D, though.

6. Will Evgeni Malkin steal the show as the late entrant into the East's stable?? It could happen...he has mad skills and might shine as the guy just filling in for Crosby.

7. Who will make the bigger trade bait statement, with little more than a month left until the deadline - Martin St. Louis or Marian Hossa?? Hossa might end up being the MVP of the game.

8. Who will be the more electric youngster -
Eric Staal, Mike Richards or Jason Spezza??

9. Does Atlanta realize how badly they miss Mark Savard??

10. Will the potency of the East's scoring be neutralized by the ridiculously insane defensive prowess of the West?? This could end up being a battle royale.

The West will get posted on Friday...

Hopefully we see some competition between Malkin and Ovechkin for goals. That last Pens/Caps game was pretty entertaining...Good job though!

Nice try, old friend... but there's very little reason to get hyped about the ASG. I'll only check it out to watch Richards, really.

Ricky D is there cause you tell me another Islander that truely deserves to be there? Witt? Guerin? Lundquist cause look at his December and January, you dont want him there. Thomas deserves it, Vokoun...eh not so much. If Price was still with the big club, I would take him over Huet.

Ah geez, the ASG ain't so bad, I'll watch it. Kinda fun sometimes to just watch em skate around and show some skills. Now the skills competition itself is kind of a drag, too bad for you they can't have a dirty hit challenge, you're whole roster would be there. Relax fellas, just a little levity. SYF, no love for TT? You threw in Crystalball's sv% but not Thomas'. Hmmmmm... Anyway, good read as always hombre, keep em coming.

Oh yeah, liked the CarrotTop thing. Kaberle looks like Mr. Bean, Spezza looks like Alfred E. Neuman, and Malkin, well...

Reason 11: Will Alfredsson ever get league-wide recognition and not be merely an afterthought, despite leading the league in points?
