What I want from my team...The 16 Commandments

As we head into the new hockey season, there are a few things I want and expect from my hockey team.


The 16 Commandments: (Thanks Leafer)

I want each and every player, from the lowliest 4th liner to the highest paid stud on the ice, to understand what hockey means to the fans that watch it and honor that knowledge with consistent hard play.

I want them to play with the same passion, love for the game and reckless abandon that they had when they first realized they were good enough.

I want them to respect their immense talent and use it in all its beauty and brutality.

I want sweat, blood and effort out of every shift.

I want you to finish your checks every time.

I want defensemen to clear the crease.

I want to see guys giving up their bodies for the team.

I want other teams to know, with complete certainty, that they had better tighten their chinstraps when they play in our building.

I want players to back one another and show the other team that if you mess with one of us - you mess with all of us - and there will be retribution.

I want every player to know and understand their role and to execute their assignments with skill.

I want to minimize ridiculous penalties but play with an edge.

I want the PP to move the puck crisply and get quality shots.

I want the PK to be aggressive with their bodies, sticks and minds.

I want my goalie to be focused and sharp.

I want to score the first goal and try to win the first period every game.

I want our players to understand who the threats are on the other team and do everything within the rules to take them off their game.

I want to win.
