Matt Moulson

Buffalo Sabres fans have suffered through a decade and a half of terrible hockey and questionable trades. Our team was used as a personal piggy bank by the Rigas's then we got strokeded by Tom Golisano like we were a cat getting its ear scratched and now another billionaire that claims his undying passion for our beloved Buffalo Sabres, I feel like a cat but this time I approach with caution, meow I'm still under the couch!
I've been waiting to see what moves are made before I commit to the full blow affection towards the new ownership.
I do like what he's done with hiring a real hockey man who's played the game at an elite level to run the hockey department and he in turn hired Ted Nolan whom I consider the right coach for this team. After that he decided to take his time hiring a new GM, so far so good I'm at the edge of the couch.

Now it's time to see what our new G.M. will do to shape this team and what direction to lead it. Again keep Ted, plain and simple then call Dasrcy say thank you and good luck while trying not to laugh.

Next point the subject of this blog: Matt Moulson.

I remember how bad I wanted to see Bobby Ryan in a Sabres jeraey and wasn't happy hearing Ottawa landed him. I'm now glad we didn't pay the ransom for him, I'm glad Darcy waited and got a younger 30 goal scorer, Matt Moulson.
Reading countless blogs of Gorton's fisherman fans from Long Island about how he couldn't perform without John Tavares. Well Moulsons prooving his critics wrong, he can skate, shoot and score at an elite level and he's doing it in Buffalo. He's a hot commodity, every G.M. in the league wants him and I'm sure we can get better than what Ottawa paid for B.R. and par or a little more than we got for T.V.

iIWANT HIM TO STAY PUT. tHIRTY GOAL SCOREERS DON'T GROW ON TREES AND I DON'T WANT TO WAIT to see one develop from within to replace him. I want to see one develop to play along side him.

We would be taking a big gamble trading him and then hoping that the close prximity to his family would be enough in addition to a hefty contract to get him back if those things could indeed intice him. I say show him "DA MONEY" right now watch him perform his magic for a season or two (in which he will still have a tremendous value), see where the team stands on the projected rebuilding time table then decide if you want to keep him full term.

After all we are going to need veteran leadership and goal scoring, right?

Younger 30 goal scorer? Younger then who? Yeah without JT he is on pace for 20 goals and 45 points. ELITE indeed. Horrible blog

first, bobby ryan is 27, and moulson is 30. i want murray to evaluate players on this roster with an eye towards winning a cup- in a few years. moulson should be moved for the best deal on the table at the deadline. i love how moulson is always around the net, he uses the tools that he has (hands and a willingness to go to ugly places) to offset the things he is missing (specifically skating). take the assets that you can get for him at the deadline and offer him 24 million over 4 in free agency. the sabres will need to spend money to get to the floor and offering that works either way going forward- moulson himself wont propel this team into the playoffs, but he is solid enough to provide offense from the second line on a playoff team. and if he chooses not to take it, go another way.

keep writing...you will get better...eliminate typos, and readers (reeders) will take you more seriously...take the time to do some research...nothing undermines any point you are trying to make like misinformation...if you can not take the time to get it right, why should anyone take the time to reed your work?

as for Moulson...if murray can land a first rounder and an upper level prospect it would be an excellent return...love the idea of trading him then throwing $6m per at him in the off season...dude can snipe

You are not getting a 1st rounder and a top prospect for an RFA that has no interest in staying in Buffalo. Sorry, you would be lucky to one or the other, at best.

idk, bercky...strange things happen at the deadline...it is a matter of supply and demand and gm brainfarts...I got a buck that says he gets a first, probably 2015 and one of the teams top three forward prospects via hockeysfuture...and, btw, no interest is rather strong, money talks, and so does the wife

If Goose can get a 1st, Moulson will get one, but I would really like to see Vey or Toffoli from LA.

Moulson will bring in a soft prospect and 1st round which will be a late first round pick. If he is any good for the new team they will resign him. only way he is in buffalo is if they extend him no way a trade and resign will happen

am with ya, bezzor...pretty much a pipe dream with a trade then a summer signing with buffalo...but a few things working in their favor if they were to pursue it,--Pegula has money and will spend it, the team has cap space and it gets pretty old moving around...plus it would seem as if the fam (wife) is content in buffalo

It will be interesting to see what happens by March 5th, Buff could possibly end up with 5 1st rnd picks, wonder if Murray will try and get a better prospect while seeing if he can push those 1st that he possibly might get for OTT, Moulson, and Miller to the 2015 draft
