"As it should be................"

If you were The Buffalo Sabres general manager Jason Botterill what would be your next move for the Buffalo Sabres?

Would it be trading away Evander Kane, Ryan O’Reilly, Sam Reinhardt, Johan Larsson, Chad Johnson or Robin Lehner for players, prospect and picks? What team would you trade them to and for what in return?

Would you infuse more talent from the Rochester Americans ?

Evander Kane is the crowning jewel of the Tim Murray era and just because he’s a product of a Tim Murray trade does not mean that we have to trade him away.
When you give up goal scorers for defense, your offense struggles, a great offense makes up for lack of defense.

I, myself would trade away Ryan O’Reilly, Johan Larson and Chad Johnson.

Trading away Ryan O’Reilly will give you a chance to sign leading scorer Evander Kane to a long-term contract, which is more beneficial to the Sabres than any lowball offer that will be tendered.

I think O’Rielly can fetch a 2-3 defenseman and a prospect. If it’s a 3 d-man then a 3rd rounder should be added on.

Johan Larsson can get you a 3 to 4 defenseman which will help The Sabre’s solidify the defense. I also believe if you could find a team that will take Zack Bogosian and his mammoth contract for maybe a third round pick and salary retained you’d be ahead of the game.

Chad Johnson is a great backup goalie for any team and definitely won’t hurt the Sabres to move him as Linus Ullmark seems ready for the backup goaltending role.

The reasoning of trading Chad Johnson instead of Robin Lehner you need a good #1 goaltender, whoa hold on! He may be struggling but he can handle the rigors of an NHL schedule better than what you can get back or bring up from the farm. Robin gives you the insurance you need if Ullmark fails.

Chad can fetch a 3rd pick.

So, with those players traded Buffalo gets 2 defenseman, a prospect and a 3rd round pick and another possible 3rd rounder.

Over/under payment, just right?

Let’s go Buffalo!

Trade Johnson to Edmonton, they need the goalie.Trade Kane to either Vancouver or Anahiem, Getzlaf /Perry can keep him in check, Vancouver is home.Trade O'Reilly to Toronto, he could be their captain until Matthews is really ready for that "C"That should get the Sabres a lot of potential and clear off 12 million or so. If Edmonton has any hopes for the playoffs, they might pay more Johnson. The Canucks have a lot of prospects and Kane is young enough to fit in with what they are doing...imagine Boeser Horvat KaneThe Leafs have some solid prospects both in F/D. Bracco is U.S. born , so that could work as a start.Build the team around Eichel and Risto

Trade Reinhart to Anaheim for a prospect defenseman straight up. Anaheim has been decimated by injuries up-front and has the defense to give up. After that, just slow down and take a breath. We have players cooking. Nylander will probably be ready to go next year. Depending on Middlestadt's progression this season, the tournament, and the summer he may also be ready for the Sabres. Guhle was ready two years ago IMO so he is due for the jump. Lehner and Johnson is a working tandem for another two years until the dynamic European duo of Ukko-Pekka Luukonen and Linus Ullmark are ready. So you'd have a forward line-up that consists of Kane-Eichel-SmithBaptiste-O'Reilly-OkposoGirgensons-Middlestadt-NylanderPu-Rodrigues-Fashing/Pouliot/anybody reallyRistolainen-Dahlen (2018 1st OVR "Rasmus-Rasmus Pairing" let me dream ok?)Guhle-ScandellaMcCabe-Anyone reallyLuukonenUllmarkI don't know about you but that looks like a cup contender right there. That's a team that can stay together in its entirety for about 5 years. I think they can win a championship at least once.

Since when is Johan Larsson so valuable?

Doclaf....that doesn't look at all like a Championship Team. Take off your homer glasses and stop over valuing your players and prospects. Chump.

His value can bring us a 3-4 damn or a decent pick.

A 4th line player isn't going to obtain a 3-4 dman or a decent pick. His biggest value was when Minny traded him.

Well if your team qualifies for the playoffs and you need to solidify your 3rd or 4th line and you have more than enough defenseman you make the trade.Need for need.

It's addition by subtraction. You trade Kane a.s.a.p. Did you not hear what happened in practice with Falk and Kane. Falk yells at Kane ..."you're selfish" along with other expletive deletives. Where theres smoke theres fire. Kane has been a problem in Atlanta, Winnipeg and has had a history here in Buffalo. Sabres management and fans alike gave him the benefit of the doubt. It's obvious , or should be by now, that he has not changed and is only "acting" like a professional because he knows he holding the winning lottery ticket when his conract runs out at the end of this season.

Really? Are you liking Kane’s production? Out of all the games played that you’ve watched do you really see a selfish player? I know what I see is one helluva player, one who flys down the wing, takes the body, has great hands both passing and shooting, and, always flys back to the defensive zone to do his job.Don’t be a meediaball. Reporters can be great story tellers. However their not privy to the inner workings of the team, they’re just going to print and voice what gets ratings.
