After a month-long trick or treat which goodies of all kind were had. like spicy power play flamers, balanced play from all lines and defenseman tossing stretch passes from the d-zone with ease. We're still in costume banging on the door expecting something for free when we should be in hunting gear, walking through the NHL forest capturing points and getting ready for postseason play.
We had it all, everybody contributing. Great d, offense, and goaltending and the greatest jack-o-lantern in the hood. Now the pumpkin has turned into a mushy mess.
The seeds of October were removed and baked and it seems none of them were saved for planting for the eleventh month of the year, NOvember.
No 5v5 goals
No power-play
No puck control
No way this is happening again!
The trend seems to be, play 1 good month in the beginning and relax the rest of the way. This is the switch from wake up in January and hope in the last week we can get help to make the playoffs.
We've gone through gm's, coaches and horrible asset management. The common denominator, besides Dan Abysmal is journeymen tryouts behind the bench and gm positions.
One name that was out there was Ken Hitchcock. Hitch always got the best out of his players. I think the first time we had a chance at him we hired Ron "who the fook are you" Ralston and the second was when abysmal was hired out of P-burg. Two missed ops to get a real coach.
The team needs to go over how it's structured. One part missing is Pres of Hockey ops. The only non-player personnel in the hockey dept. should be a cap specialist, the rest should be hockey guys. BUT NONE FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL.
The Pres of Hockey ops. should have absolute power and not be a puppet position. That's why LaFontaine left in disgust.
