Well four goals would be enough to win many games but not tonight against the Washington capitals.
Taylor Hall, Tobias Rieder, Jake McCabe and Victor Goaloffson stated the season right by notching their first goals of the season while Jack Eichel got 2 helpers.
Buffalos passing needed much to desire as did their quality time in the o-zone. Body positioning needs to be improved on as does on ice decision making.
While Taylor Hall scored in his first game in a Sabres uniform, he assisted on a Washington goal as he chose to try make a soft backhand pass across the front of the Buffalo net where less than a foot away Washington’s Jakob Vrana caught Halls on the tape pass and flicked it high glove side past Popeye Hutton.
For most of the game the Sabres had a hard time getting out of their own zone and when they did get through the neutral zone and into the o-zone the caps quickly marched out of the zone and into Sabres territory all Washington really had to do was pepper Popeye with the puck and play a good defensive game which was as bad as the Sabres.
I can’t blame Hutton totally for the loss but I wonder if his sight isn’t up to snuff, he played a bad game. And you need your goalie to steal games, especially in a shortened season, in what I consider the NHL’s toughest conference.
We’ll see how Ullmark plays tomorrow. Me thinks we should be looking for a better goaltender or it’ll be a loooong shortened season.
You have played a very important role in developing my interest in Hockey games. And I got to know more about this game through your write-ups. All of them are really good. Plant-Based Meals Thank you for adding me to this forum.
