Flames scouting director goes through the opinion translator

So today the Herald finally picked up that the Flames have let go their head of amateur scouting and two other scouts, well for regular readers of my blog you read it here July 2nd. I am not ashamed to tell you when I think I'm ahead of the curve because it only happens a few times a century!

In political, talk to the media type of talk Tod Button, head of scouting addressed the moves. To facilitate reading I will translate his comments into regular folk talk.

T.B.-"Because it's a different approach to amateur scouting — that's basically the bottom line,"

Translation-" We are tired of sucking balls on the draft floor, we want to try drafting well and see how that works."

T.B.- "You know what? We're going to try to cover different areas in a different way"

Translation- "Please leave me alone. We are going to actually go to games and watch players. Assess their talent and draft accordingly as opposed to what we've been doing for a decade....reading the hockey news"

T.B.-"It's hard for me to tell you till you see the whole picture of how it comes out at the end."

Translation-"The Flames are working on something and I'm not invited to the party."

T.B.-"It's an ongoing process. There are different ways to do it."

Translation-"We weren't aware there's a draft EVERY year but now that we know we think we will try to do it good as opposed to bad, there's two different ways, good and bad and we want good."

T.B.-"It's not just one person's decision...".

Translation- "Sutter said I had to."
