Sutter firing unlikely.

Oh my. Looks like another loss, which means a win tonight and the record will probably keep skipping. In the meantime everyone is calling for Sutter's head on a platter for putting together a loser team with one of the highest salaries.

Let's look at this calmly though. Sutter was made Executive Vice President this summer. Does that tell you that ownership wants him gone? Then they hire Feaster, a great hire. He is over qualified to be an assistant though so what does that mean? Sutter now has a watch dog in Feaster? No. If you read the tea leaves right it looks like Ken King is ready to step down from his role or revise his role and perhaps pursue other ventures. Sutter is poised to take on a larger role and Feaster is poised to become the new G.M. When this happens is anyone's guess but Feaster has already been involved with the large contract negotiations of White and Stajan, fired the amateur scouting staff and replaced them. His role is to learn the organization this year and take over so Sutter is going nowhere. Sutter will confer with Feaster about moves because in the very near future it will be his team to run but not right now. I highly doubt Sutter will be fired but behind closed doors at the deadline it may be Feaster answering the phone.

Brent Sutter is not going to get canned yet. Too many coaches have tried and failed with this group that obviously it's not the coach anymore. It's a group of multi millionaires who just aren't hungry anymore. They put on a show a shift or two but rarely give everything every game. Although that's a broad blanket statement that doesn't apply to all players it does apply to the large amount of the team. It's tough to watch if you're an average Joe trying to get by working your butt off everyday to watch these guys make millions and take the night off. If you break down what these guys make just to come to practice sometimes it is mind boggling.

We watched an entire period if not an entire game where the Flames were out skilled and out worked. The Flames have never been the most skilled team in the league but they were always a hard working team, the whip has lost it's sting though and it's much easier to just compete at an average level.

Obviously I do not include Kipper in this group at all. we owe him a giant thank you for keeping the Flames from being a massive embarrassment, as if last weren't bad enough.

Leland Irving is kicking A$% this year. Nemisz is 2nd in team scoring. Did the Flames draft well? I guess we'll see if either of these guys turn out but that would be a nice change of pace.

you havent had a number one center for 10 years and the former alleged franchise defenseman is a give-away machine, but now on a different team. No you have not drafted well.

There is NO question the drafting record is horrible! It's the last few that seem to be panning out.

feaster was not part of stajans contract negotiations. he was hired in the summer. deal done 5 games after the dion trade.

so if feaster is promoted, does he have to have the same philosophy (defensive minded) as sutter? the way the sutter clan want to have the team play is very, very boring.

As long as Sutter isn't in charge of changes from this point on...

Agree with Rink, as long as he doesnt get involved in the GM duties

I guess there is a case to be made for Brent Sutter's system and for him stickin around, is that the team gets scoring chances and often loses by 1 goal..... a mini-rebuild-trade one of the core at least and we may be right back in the playoffs in a year or two... you are right there seems to be a problem with the core being to comfortable.... as we are only bringing it every other game right now....

A loss to Columbus tomorrow spells the end of at least one Sutter.
