In the spirit of the Season I am posting some of the trades I'd like to see happen prior to the playoffs this year. In my opinion the Flames need to address a second line right winger and I think the Canadiens might move Kovalev as he is super under preforming and a UFA next year. You know Keenan would love to have him and he would fit nicely with langkow and Bertuzzi. Going back the other way for a UFA could be anything but as the Canadiens are celebrating their centienal then I don't see a move like this happening but it'd be nice.
A back up goalie, Obviously Keenan has no faith in Curtis (as in previous posts I refuse to try and spell his last name but may start refering to him as Mac) and there is any number of goalies out there, the Rinne rumor today is interesting but usually clubs don't trade solid guys like that cheaply.
Another top four defenceman, Dion simply plays too many minutes to be affective, playing half the game is hard for a guy who is expected to be an offencive force. We hear the Boumeester rumors and everything but trust me he isn't coming here, i'd like it though!
So in summary I'd like a Kovalev, Boumeester, Rinne addition to the club for nothing... HEY I said it was a WISH list.
why not grab crosby, weber, luongo while your at it?!?
why not a block buster trade with Florida for J-Bo and horton
You can have Afinogenov.
how bout brett sutter????
I find it funny sutter got recalled. Everyone knows he doesn't deserve it but it is Christmas and it's important to have family around. I bet money he gets demoted right after Christmas. Crosby, Weber and luongo? We have Jerome, Dion and Kipper...that's just silly and fantasy. lolJ-bo and Horton...anytime as long as we are sending them Eriksson and Roy... haha. Just kidding I'd love those guys to land here.afinigenov has that maybe factor, it's almost like he's given up but I can only imagine how fast a Lombardi Borque afin line would be... Might not score but they could sure skate!
For my part: I want a solid Point presence, a solid third line center and a goaltender. Maybe NYR will get stupid and trade the Avs Roszival, Betts, Fritsche and Valiquette for Tucker, Arnason, Clark, Salei and (insert goalie name here.) Sigh, if only...
I think you need to check Kovalev stats, cause he is far from under-performing. He is pretty near at the rate of last year (for points) and one of the few forwards on our team that are producing (the others are Tangay, Koivu who is injured and Lang). I am not saying that Kovalev is a superstar (he is not) but we don't have that on our team anyway (except Markov) and we need him if we want to do anything in the playoffs. The only guy who can play RW that we could trade is Latendresse. Maybe S Kost, but I am not sure because we also have his brother. Higgins is a left winger....Anyway, Habs are looking for a top 4 d so if you are looking for that yourself, I doubt you have anything to offer.
why doesn't Sutter deserve this?? he's worked his ass off just like anybody else on the farm?? is it because his last name is Sutter? He had one hell of a camp, pal...
I think he meant that Kovey is unperforming in terms of elbows to the head but I wouldn't worry. There are plenty of games left for him to hurt someone.
we have randy jones who we can't afford because of the carle acquisition, but we would have to take some salary and would probably want someone like boyd in the deal.
Brent deserves the call up I have seen his progress he is a solid hard working forward.
You dont think this call up is a little weird right before christmas during a 5 game homestand? If I was Sutter I probably wouldnt have done anything different, it is a gift to his kid and a gift to the whole family cause they will get to watch him play in the big leagues, but I think it is going to put Keenan in an awkward situation and likely Brett when he goes back down to QC.
if you think that way then no way this kid will ever get respect for his play. He'll always get placed in his father's shadow and that's just as unfair as if he was getting preferential treatment. He's been a warrior down on the farm and all the scouts talk about how solid he has been in his role. He's up here to play that role. That's what we need. Boyd is getting put up on the second line to fill the void left by Glencross so there's no reason to bring in a scorer from the farm to play a third/fourth line checking role. Sutter gets the call because we need a checking forward and he fits the bill... he's earned this call up.
I'm not disparaging his camp or his work ethic but if this team has a stock pile of one thing it's defensive grinding forwards! He's got 7 points and is a minus 4 and among the bottom guys for production, if you're telling me Greentree who has 26 points and a minus four can't do the same job but better than sutter than I think you're the one putting too much into his name. deadpoulet- I like it, we'll give you sarich for kovalev... he AWESOME ...i swear.
Nahhh... I don't put anything into the call up at all. So, i guess we'll have to just agree to disagree. the very notion of Sutter calling up his son simply because it's his son seems so far out of the character of what I hold as my perception of who Daryl Sutter is as a person and a GM. Young sutter is simply any other call up. If his last name wasn't Sutter we wouldn't even be talking about this call up. We'll see Greentree up here. We'll probably see a bunch of the guys from the farm get a try on the big team. They'll all get a chance to play that's called organizational depth. For now Sutter gets the call...big deal!
Well we can agree on the fact that at least we have a bunch of guys we can call up unlike years past and that is a good thing!
if were you following the Quad you'd know Sutter does deserve - or if you saw him in the pre-season the last 2 years. He brings great energy and has a decent skillset that at the bottom end definitely rivals Nystrom and Roy's
Yeah I won't be able to eat turkey if I keep eating all this crow...
hehe...yeah. that was awsome! I thought of you once he scored... that sounds sorta creepy. anywho... Merry Christmas!
