Stajan is back so Morrison has moved to the right wing, when Bourque, Moss or Kotalik come back we will find ourselves in an interesting dilemma. Do you keep Backlund or lose him to the minors when Morrison goes to third line center? For me Backlund is the star forward when it comes to turn overs, he's a little Datsyuk out there, it's amazing. Morrison has been given second line forward time and been okay but not great, when the right wingers return what happens to my man Backlund? It really looks like there is no room for him on the top six or maybe even the top nine once everyone is healthy which is sad because he is one of the only guys playing like Sutter wants the Flames to play.
A lot has been made of the lack of scoring from the Jokinen/ Tanguay/ Iginla line and rightfully so. We all know it's early days and one game can turn that disapproval to delight though, that may be tonight's game. It does highlight one thing though, Darryl Sutter is tied to Jokinen. Like Sather was tied to Redden. You can make a hundred great moves but the one horrible one will kill you. The problem for Darryl Sutter is that he now has two guys that are dragging his reputation through the mud, the other guy being Bouwmeester. Money has a lot to do with it obviously, J-bo makes 7 mil a year so yeah he better play like he is expected to but if he made 3 mil and played like he does now he's awesome. Bouwmeester and Jokinen combine for a cap hit of roughly $9.7 million dollars and through two games are a combined -1 and zero points. It's just two games mind you but it already annoys me.
Sarich has been sitting in the press box a lot. His cap hit is still there, he is not injured to anyone's knowledge and is being sat so Staios can play. Either Sarich tried to romance a Mrs. Sutter or he is being shopped. I'm thinking the shopped option, the reason I say that is he is still a top 6 d-man on this team above Pardy and Staios, and typically sitting means there is an actual deal in place. If Sarich is sitting just because he is not as good in the coaches eye they should waive him at least. Three guys in the press box on any given night who play the same position is kind of insane, especially at 3.6 million. When Pardy comes back there is again 8 defense in Calgary, seven on one way deals... too many.
I do not know about you but I think the Oilers vs. Leafs Stanley cup final is going to be super exciting!
Can someone tell me why Vanek is such a teet so far this year? I see has a ton of shots on net but can't beat anyone. Is he always this horrible? Buffalo fans please enlighten me.
"Hello, Anaheim? You've been on the wrong end of 165 shots in 4 games. Maybe you need a serviceable shutdown d-man of some sort. We happen to have 2 or 3 extra ones kicking around..."
I don't know this because I don't have Hiller in one of my pools. Honest.
Sarich apparently has a NMC, contrary to previous reports. I wouldn't mind Backlund getting another year on the farm to work on his Offense given he could actually have some talented wingers around him this year.
He does have a no movement and can not be demoted, I spoke out of turn on that but his sitting is just saying, "hey sarich...how is that NMC working for ya?" It forces guys to waive it. rink- I hear you, I also do not have Vanek.
Rink- I still think sarich to sallas gfor Richards should be discussed. With sarich gone and langkow in LTIR as well as Kotalik there is probably the cap room.
Sane, do you think Sarich
I'd love to see Richards here, but I suppose you'd have to know for sure whether or not Langkow is ever coming back before making that deal.
Oh he's coming back it's what they can hide to afford it.
Ovechkin or Crosby would only get 10 goals with the Flames YEEEESH!
Flames have one move for Richards... White, Stajan and Backlund(or Pick); It does seem a bit much; but Dallas needs a puck moving D, and a Center to replace Richards. As well Flames are overstocked on Center's and need to makes some Cap space for Richards salary.
The question is... would you rather have Stajan and Backlund in the lineup over Richards? I personally would be willing to take that gamble to get a true #1 Center. Not to mention Richards leadership skills which the Flames seem to really need right now!
Let's be honest, Jerome and Kipper's window for that Stanely Cup is quickly closing... I say go "all in" and try to make a decent run... or trade them and start the rebuilding.
If Dallas trades Richards it will be a financial decision, they won't be taking much money back, if anything they might take expiring deals, but probably not dollar for dollar.
