Dan Ryder, who just came back from taking a year off of hockey and was once considered one of the Flames best prospects at center has been suspended again for "violation of team rules and conduct detrimental to the best interests of the team.".

If you are unaware who Dan Ryder is, he is the younger brother of the more famous Michael Ryder of the bruins. But to the organization he was also a player who had 82 points twice with the Petes in the OHL, who they feel they stole in the 3rd round, was a Wayne Gretzky 99 award winner for being the MVP of the 2006 OHL playoffs. Several coaches in the OHL credited Ryder as being the most complete center in those playoffs due to his penalty killing ability as well as playmaking ability.

Ryder Left the Flames organization where it was speculated that he was tiring of hockey and wanted to get away. It was generally considered a good thing when the team let him come back to training camp for the 2008 season.

Things went downhill from there however as he was an early cut, being sent down to Quad city, however the likelyhood of him making the team was low anyway. In Quad City things got worse as he was not putting up the kind of production expected of him and was demoted to the Las Vegas Wranglers. The first call up the quad city called was not Ryder either and it seems that was the last straw for this prospect.

He is now suspended and one can only speculate that he has quit again, maybe that is premature to say and I hope it isn't true because I think Ryder has the talent to make a comeback, maybe just not the heart though.

The Flames have been patient with Ryder, but one has to wonder if this is the last straw.

feel bad for the flames and all because its a wasted draft pick, but really i dont feel sorry for the kid, he had a chance to make it to the show and he gave up because he couldn't mature in the minor leauges, thats what they are for...

Did he leave again, or was it something else? Regardless, chances are he's now finished with the Flames organization. Could he traded for...well...anything?

Rink- Don't think he'll be worth anything at all as he was a 3rd round pick to begin with.Oil- Yeah it's always sad to see a kid who might have matured and been really good lose his path if in fact he did leave the team. You have to wonder if he'll be 50 years old and bitter he didn't try harder to stick.Vetts- If he left I think that's the show for him. I can't see Sutter being fond of having a player that consistantly quits on the organization.
