I have to wonder why the flames have not made an announcement regarding anything lately.

There is a public perception out there that the evaluation is not just about the on ice personal but also about the office guys, namely King and Sutter. One might take it that a signing of a junior player to a free agent contract is a move, and it is, but is it a significant one?

Lets look at some of the organizational moves made by the Flames a year ago:

May 04- After being bounced first round style once again Sutter announces it is assessment time.
May 06- Two days, just two days, after saying it was assessment time Sutter announced that he will not be "cleaning house" but will still have meeting with players and coaches.
May 22- Keenen is fired
May 26- Sutter goes on record saying he is looking for a replacement.

What does this tell us? That even after one round in the playoffs the Flames had already assessed and made moves to improve the organization by the end of May, or what they thought were improvements, assessments had been done and everything was moving forward.

Now, after not making the playoffs at all, giving them an extra week to look inward at their failures, they still haven't had any real announcements. Just one junior guy signed (which I think is a great signing by the way).

My point is that after this junior signing we all thought that Sutter still had the reigns and the control but as the questions keep coming and no indication is coming from either the owners or the management we are left wondering.

If there was a failure in the system, like coaching, it would have been addressed by now as we've seen in the past, if Sutter had control would there be a Pro signed by now or bought out (Kotalik)?

As paying season ticket holders, casual fans, even the guy who just buys a red t-shirt, we as fans want a little more clarity and a few more answers. What is going on with the RFA's? The UFA's? Today Nick Backstrom was signed in Washington, why aren't we hearing about what is going on with Nystrom and White? This is the time! If we continue to see no communication from the Flames over the next two weeks I will personally wonder if this indecisive action and communication may cost the Flames another successful season, if they want to replace the G.M. but wait too long then who is to blame?

maybe they're promoting kisio after the mem cup?

not sure hockey maybe you're on to something! I just wish there would be SOME answer given. If they were letting Sutter go I'd have to think they would have done it by now but Kisio as the assistant G.M.?? That has legs.

Basically, Nystrom is gone and White likely will be too, not shocked on the silence as there isn't much positive to discuss. Power struggle behind the scenes likely, though Sutter will likely stay w/ training wheels. Iggy to boston for #2 overall and players!!!

boston doesnt have the cap space or the players the flames would want. they would give the number 2 pick but i highly doubt you flames fans would be happy taking another underachieving forward. (Ryder) they already have higgins and kotalik why make it a 3peat. the Bruins want a scoring winger but they don't have much that really would help improve the roster. more than likely i would look at moving regher to washington for semin. you secondary scoring and could probably coax alzner from washington too.

actually i would look at trying to get back some picks at the draft. sutter let teams poach all his picks and thats not gonna help the system either.

Boston isn't trading the 2nd overall pick. It's not happening. If Boston trades a 1st round pick, its going to be their own.

To trade that second overall pick it would have to be a bock buster trade that would be possibly a three way deal where all kind of complicated salary is moving everywhere. I dont' see it happening either and personally as a flames fan I'd be happy with any first round pick depending on what is paid.

Gio's signed through the end of next year. You can't even negotiate yet.

If Iggy were to get traded to Boston it would be for something along the lines of Boston's 1st, Wheeler, and Wideman/Ryder.If I'm Calgary's GM I don't make that trade. I'd be looking to try to pick up Versteeg or Sharp from Chicago, Semin from Washington, etc.

If this post season says anything, it is that you do not need a franchise goalie to win it all. Look at the contenders here. Niemi, Lehtenin, Halak, and Nabokov. Besides Nabokov these keepers don't have much star power, but there teams do. Lots of scoring punch throughout the line ups and a simple defensive work (clear the rebounds) because these guys give up a lot of them, and success has followed.

With that said, trading Kipper (5.83 million) when his value is very high, to say Toronto.... just kidding!! To Detroit for Franzen (3.95 million) and Ericsson (900,000) IMO its a good trade for both and the money is even. Trade Regehr for a low first rounder and sign Tanguay and Andrew Ference as free agents.

I agree about kipper if the return is high enough, anything less than a 1st rounder and a scoring winger is not enough. Flames34 will now proceed to try and kill you.

Typically d-men MAY get a 2nd round pick, Regehr is not considered Elite outside of Calgary either, lots of teams would like him but not first rounder like him.

You have to look at teams with an abundance of scoring but lack a reliable, rough and stay at home dman. someone that wouldnt be considered a liability in his own end. teams i believe that would give a decent return for regher would be Florida (Wiess or Horton), Buffalo (Drew Stafford, and/or Tim Connolly), Dallas (Mike Ribiero and/or Fabian Brunnstrom), I believe with the moves sutter has made the move he will most like make is shawn horcoff for regher. just a lil parting shot lol.

This Flames system has not been working for years the problem is all the coaches are basic images of the same person it has not worked since 2004.
