Florida Panthers are the next team on my list. There are a lot of positive signs in Florida. The Panthers do have a chance of making the playoffs; we are in the South-East Division, anything can happen. The teams are all equally good, or equally bad, depending on your point of view.
I like the Panthers because they have a good core of young players. They have a solid goalie who can hold them in any given night. They have a superstar who leads their team, giving them a chance to sneak a win to maybe keep them in the playoff hunt.
OLLI JOKINEN
Captain Olli is the best player on this team. Olli had 30 goals and 29 assists, for 59 points this season. Olli can do it all for the Panthers. He is a pure passer and great offensive playmaker. Olli is a power-play specialist. He has a terrific shot, and uses it during the power-play; with 13 power-play goals. They would be crazy to trade him while in the playoffs race.
NATHAN HORTON
Nathan is a terrific young forward who is offensively gifted. Nathan can do it all. He is capable of winning a game all by himself. He has 20 goals and 29 assists, with 49 points. Nathan is great in the defensive zone; he is plus 12 on the season. He has 7 power-play goals. He is a very smart player who is a terrific offensive passer and all-around player.
JAY BOUWMEESTR
Jay is the number one dman in Florida, Jay has 10 goals and 25 assists, for 35 points. Jay is a power-play quarterback with a terrific shot. Jay is a terrific shooter, but more importantly, he is a great passer. Bouwmeestr is a great hitter. You'd better not put your head down. Jay is an excellent all-around defenseman. Hewould be a number one dman with many teams in the League. Jay has so much to offer. He skates well, he is excellent in his own zone, and he hits well. He does well with everything.
TOMAS VOKOUN
Tomas is one of the best goalies in the League; he does not do much wrong. He continues to hold the Panthers in games. Tomas has held the Panthers in games by making 40 or more saves. He has one of the best glove hands in the game. With the number of glove hands in the game, he has an amazing .917 save percentage.
CONCLUSION
The Panthers have a lot of good young players and should challenge for the playoffs. They have maybe the best goalie in the division. The Panthers have to be more consistent, and if they are, they have as a good shot as any to win the division.
PERSONAL NOTE
Let me go on the record right now to say that the Panthers would be crazy to trade Olli. They are too close to making the playoffs; you can not trade your best players in a playoff race.
FLAMESTR
The fan that leaves early and proud of it

I'm not hugely familiar with the Panthers, so I'm basing this mostly on what stats I can pull up and what little I do know, but here's my take on it -Considering that the Panthers really haven't been able to maintain momentum, moving Jokinen to a team already with a playoff berth for younger players / draft picks could seriously increase Florida's depth down the road. I'm extremely skeptical they have a shot at even the 8th seed this late in the season where they are in the standings. Several teams far more solid than them are already in contention for it. Because let's face it, Florida has maybe one solid forward line, and that line still isn't solid enough to carry the team. Dealing Jokinen for the future of the franchise is, in the long run, better than not taking advantage of GMs desperate for impact players and ending the season without a playoff berth.
excellent good points they should nto trade olli unless they can get players which can help them to the playoffs, if thy wanna trade him it may be worht now due to they will getm ore now then the summer it all depends if htey feel they want ohe playoffs this year or better chance next.
welll from san joses perspective on the Power Play him and rivet would be one hella defensive combo and can counter any line that them Ducks throw at us. O and be my guest at taking "two major players" cuzz in my oppinon all we have are average players
The thing is that even if the make the playoffs, its a guaranteed first round exit. The dicsision to get young guys and spend the rest of the year getting themice time would be a smart one. Also, in response to the first comment, if they make the playoffs it will be via third place division win, obviously no one in the divisin would have a shot at 8th spot otherwise.
sharks1 - "in my oppinon all we have are average players ". Are you kidding me!? Joe Thornton is in the top ten in the league in points. Average!? The Sharks have a superstar center, a workhorse goaltender, and a great supporting cast.As far as trading Jokinen, there's no doubt that Florida will get a nice return for him. But he's still got two years on his contract. Keeping him would definitely be the smart thing to do if there is any confidence that this team will improve over the next couple of seasons. Trading him tells me that Florida has given up on the short term and they are looking to rebuild long term. With salaries going up the way they have been, he's a steal for any team that gets him.
Trading Jokinen would be worse move than the hiring Keenan
Considering the Panthers' history with trades (IE: Luongo for Bertuzzi), I'd hope they've learned to keep the good players around.
FIRE MARTIN
Like I told you, it might be best if they both cut ties with eachother....He's a great player but the panthers have still done nothing with him. Sometimes you do better wtih 2 or 3 good players then you do with 1 great one. And on a side note, I think he'd do great in calgary!!!! If he went to edmonton, the oilers would still stink!
