The Calgary Flames played their best defensive game of the of the season. Kipper was outstanding, kicking out all 31 shots. Now you may say it sounds like Kipper stole the game, but the defense really did limit the scoring chances. The forwards really came back to help the defense. When the forwards do their part in the defensive zone, this team can be successful. The best line on this team lately is Bourque, Conroy, and Glencross when they are together. Glencross did see some first line duty tonight with Iginla and Cammy.

The key to the Flames success is also the balance of scoring on this team, as they have eight players on a 20 goal pace. Iggy got support again tonight. The best line, for instance, was Bertuzzi, Langkow, and Moss. They were flying tonight. Moss's goal tonight gives him a 4-game goal streak, which is a career high. Moss is a monster right now, playing the best hockey of his career. Langkow and Bertuzzi seem to be snapping out of their slumps. They are playing very well of late. I also want to mention the hustle of Nystom and the premier night of Peters; both really showed emotion in their play, giving the Flames an extra boost every time they were on the ice. When the Flames play with emotion, they can play with the best of them, especially when Kipper is on his game. This was truly a masterpiece of a game played by the visiting Flames.

Player of the Game

I wanted to keep the best for last. Simply put, Adam Pardy played his best game of the season tonight. I can really tell he has improved his play by leaps and bounds since the beginning of the season. He was physical and smart tonight in the corners, and made some terrific clearing passing out to the forwards. Adam was cool, calm, and collected with the puck. Coach Playfair's one-on-one coaching is really paying off. Every practice I have gone to, I have seen Adam with Coach Playfair, constantly working on his clearing the puck in the defensive zone. Well it has really paid off. Adam was truly a rock out there tonight on defense.

The Goal

Mr. Bourque's goal was outstanding, taking the puck on a great feed from Connie. The key point was his hustle, going after the rebound and grabbing the puck and making the perfect shot. Bourque has been one of the most solid acquisitions of the season by Mr. Sutter. He has really helped in the secondary scoring that the Flames most desperately need.

The Flames are on 4 game winning streak on the road, playing their best hockey of the season. The best thing that has ever happened to this team was the butt-kicking the Sharks gave the Flames 6-1 in the Tank.

Nice to read... Very nice. I haven't had a chance to see too many Flames games this year. I have always liked the Flames but now that Adam Pardy is playing, they are definately my 2nd favorite team. I played on defense with Adam throughout most of my minor hockey days in Bonavista. We are good friends and usually keep in touch when he comes home to visit. I also played with Daniel Ryder, another Flames prospect. I am so happy to hear that Adam is playing well in Calgary right now. I have a question though: What happens when Vandermeer returns from injury?

Its funny cause I was thinking the same thing. What happens to Vandermeer when he returns? My guess is a trade cause I dont think you can make Pardy the 7th dman again cause of his play. So I think a trade will happen. I dont know what kind of trade but I think that would be the best route.

I agree Big and Habs because Pardy is playing very well Vandy as trade bait might be the only option.

I think Sutter will keep the current 7 defencemen. How many times in a year, never mind the playoff (Remember Brennen Evans on '04) do you have 6 healthy defencemen.I think if they do have 7 healthy bodies when vandermeer returns, they will spell guys out and give them a rest to keep everyone sharp. Don't forget they have used Vandermeer at forward more than a few times and he adds a lot of toughness up front as well defensive responsibilty.
