A MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR THE PAYATT FAMILY

When you think of hockey, it’s just a game. Just a game. I, for one, was deeply saddened by the news of Taylor Pyatt losing his fiancé. My heart and condolences go out to Taylor’s family and to all the Canucks fans. We may cheer against them, but that’s just part of the game. God be with you, Taylor, the fans are thinking of you at this time. I know that my life is with my wife. I have no idea what I would do if I was in his shoes.

TWO MORE PLAYERS WHO SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE CALDER TROPHY RACE, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

Team USA has got a couple of future mainstays in their hockey club for many years to come.

T.J. Oshie, St. Louis Blues

T.J. is a terrific young player who has all the tools to be a star. He will be a star for many years to come. I love his grit and determination in the corners. He is willing to get his hands dirty. He is a great playmaker. I think he should get some votes. He has gotten my attention.

Kyle Okposo, NY Islanders

Kyle is great young player, who in already becoming a leader within the team ranks. Kyle is really a great scorer who skates with the best of them. Okposo has the ability to see the ice and is always thinking one step ahead, which is a great quality to have in order to become a star in the NHL. Hang on for the ride, Islanders fans, because you’re in for a good one.

NO ONE WANTS TO WIN THE NORTHWEST DIVISION

The Vancouver Canucks have become a little generous when it comes to the division. As they and the Flames have been playing the “I can play worse than you” “no you can’t” dance. The Canucks lose twice on the weekend, to both Colorado and Edmonton. Meanwhile, anyone see the horrible performance in Minny by the Flames? It was ugly. The Flames virtually mailed it in, losing 4-0 to the Wild. They play the Kings on Monday; they’d better get ready for the showdown on Tuesday against the dreaded Canucks.

HOW ABOUT THOSE CANADIANS?

The Canadians have won four in a row, and they have found a new top line: Tangs, Koivu, and Kovy. They have been awesome this week in leading the Canadians to four straight wins. They did lose their streak yesterday with a 3-2 loss to the Sens. A savvy move by Gainey to put the Habs back into the race; in 7th place as I write this blog.
