Hi my son and I attended the prospect Camp this week and I thought I would spend some time and give you an idea on who I thought gave the best impressions in the Camp

27 Andrei Taratukhin

By Far the best prospect Knows what to do with a puck very smart great passer. The thing that impressed me the most was his strength I had no idea of how strong he was will be hard to taken off the puck. If he improves on his own end in the flames camp he will be the newest Flame. I don't see how Keenan can keep him off this years line up if he improves on his skating and own end because he all the tools to be a force in this years line up.

42 Bret Sutter

Has a lot of speed to burn great wrist shot, you can tell he is a Sutter because he a ton of grit and has a some Nasty pills. He can dig in the Corner and really get under people skin, I love his attitude, never satisfied with his effort. Will be a keeper in a couple of years I suspect he will be in Quad Cities this Season he is 20 years old giving the flames the option of the farm or the WHL has nothing to prove in the WHL . Outside of Taratukhin might of been the best player in group B.

J D. Watt

Great guy was really impressed with his willingness to learn. I noticed while I was watching him he was always working hard. Shows a lot of character and has some major leadership skills in him. Will be a spark plug uses his size to his advantage, needs to improve on his skating and his offensive game. But what he brings in his leadership skills and physical game could be good enough. He is also 20 years old giving the Flames the option of Quad Cities or WHL, he has a championship in the WHL , I think he will beon the Quad Cities with his buddy Bret this Season.

47 Tim Ramholt

Calgary Best offensive Dman in their System, Great shot very smart the Offensive zone. Still has trouble in his own end but will be a great powerplay specialist Quad Cities. Will be the first Call up among the dman this Season with injuries factor on Calgary Defense I look for Tim to see action in the Flames sweater this Season.

55 Adam Pardy

I was told that Adam does a great workout Program, in the off season and it really shows to me he was the most improved prospect from last years Camp. Great defensive dman he is a rock in his own end, does not get rattled in his own end. Knows his limitations, does not get caught out of position. Has great leadership skills should have a letter in Quad Cities this season, also could be a call up to the Flames team right behind Ramholt. The improvement from last season makes him a future NHLer in my opinion.

41 Dustin Boyd

Maybe the most Gifted offensive prospect in the Camp. His powerful offensive skills makes him a can't miss prospect with the Flames. If they Flames can't make some moves to fit him in they should, he is a magician with the puck can do things that I could only dream of. The problem is the Flames may only have one extra spot unless they make a move to make room for him. If he goes to Quad Cities he will be their leading Scorer.

59 David Van Der Gulik

Wow Did not know this kid until I seen him at this Camp. What do I know about him now? He has speed and has moves that will leave dmen behind looking for their well you get my point. The only problem is his size but in todays new NHL with his speed and his skill he can over come that. He has a great shot and does some scary things with the puck. Seeing him on a break away will be a treat.

71 Leland Irving

Has size and cat like reflexes and yes I mean a big cat. Can play the angles with the best will be a star in the NHL. Good puck handler and can handle the puck has a Great Glove hand. He is all class handles himself very well. The only thing is his strength but that will come because he is still young . With him and Keetley the Flames will be great in net for many years to come.

36 Matt Keetly

See Above

No Seriously, made the save of camp with his glove hand. Right with Leland, has a great glove hand and is stronger in my opinion. He is 20 and is signed there is no way that he is going back to the hat, will be a Quad City goalie next Season.
Above Average puck caring skills quick, and is stand up Goalie and has great size.

There is my view of our best prospects and I could of picked many more but hands got tired doing all the typing. Dougstr had a great experience at this camp which I will write or try or get Dougstr to do his first blog on it. I have been been at camp Tuesday through Friday this week so if there was a prospect that you would like to know about please leave a comment and I will try to do another blog on to answer the questions I get . I will try to get their today which is Saturday the last day of camp to give you an account of the last day .

Nice writeup.Talking to a few other people that were there, Per Jonsson (sp?) the Flame's 7th round draft pick from 2006 looks to be a good defenceman in the making.
