ell another week has already passed. I thought I would like to open this blog up by offering my congratulations to the Pens on becoming the Stanley Cup Champions. Simply put, Malkin was awesome in the victory for Pit, he deserved for MVP for the playoffs.
This series was a classic, but I must admit that when the Wings took the game 5 zip, I for one, did not give the Pens much of a chance. But their stars came out to play, and their goaltending was superb in the last two games. The most important point is that their coach had a plan, and the players bought into it and they pretty much held the Wings in check. My kudos go out to Todd Gill and Robert Scuderi. They were crucial in stopping the Wings’ potent offense in winning the cup. Both of these players should be resigned in the off season. I might add the Pens’ defense was severely underrated going into that series. Say what you want, but there is no way the Pens could win the cup if they didn’t take care of their own end first.
How about Brian Burke ripping on Heatley for going public on wanting out in Ott? Hey Brian, if you’re going put yourself out of the running to get Danny that would be a huge mistake. I really do not get why it was a big deal that he went public. I am sure Ottawa management was well aware of it before Danny’s people went public. I really think that this is just all talk, because the Leafs were not going to get him anyway.
So it looks like we’re going to have a double hitter on the Winter Classic this year. I will actually be able to go in person in 2010 to see an outdoor game. The Calgary Flames will host another Canadian team, let’s hope it’s Edmonton - what a classic that would be. On the other hand, a Habs vs. Flames game would also be a classic. There is some scuttlebutt that it is the Leafs vs. the Flames, but nothing official.
FANTASY GENERAL MANAGER MARIAN HOSSA
I suspect that the biggest major UFA out there are Jbo or Marian Hossa with Jbo more than likely going this weekend, or should I say draft weekend. So do the Wings fork the cash out to keep Hossa? Or do they have the cap room? I think their major problem is staying under the Cap, and they have plenty of stars, led by Samuelsson and Franzen. I say let Hossa go, only because of the cap reasons. The Wings are going to be a force for many, many years.
So who goes out and breaks the bank for Hossa? Does the Oil go out and make another offer? The Oil have all the parts to be a force; I think Hossa could be that final piece. The only thing is that they may very well have the best chance of picking up Heater out of Ottawa.
If the Oil don’t go after Hossa, I think just maybe it could be the Kings, if they don’t get Vinny, or of course Heater. Can you imagine Kopitar with Hossa ? Wow! The Kings have plenty of young talent. Their time is coming, and grabbing Hossa just might be the ticket.
Probably the third team that could make a pitch is the Caps. If they could fit him in, they would be awesome. The Caps have cap issues with Semin on the payroll and may not be able to grab Hossa. But with rumors of both Fedorov and Kozlove going to the KHL next season, maybe the Caps will think about grabbing Mr. Hossa.
Those are my three favorites for going after Mr. Hossa. I am sure there are others. I am sure the Oil will pick up Heater or Hossa, they really need a big name and now with Quin, just maybe they can grab a big name.

Burke is such a moron. The most hypocritical man i've ever seen. He doesn't want heatley cause he went public with demanding a trade but had no problem trading for Pronger from Edmonton. Burke needs to know when to shut the hell up.
Good article Flamestr, I would rather have Heatley than Hossa. Hossa seems to die out during the playoffs. I would love to see Calgary and Edmonton play in the winter Classic.
I hope your right about either Hossa or Heatley
