It is entertaining listening to fans as the hockey season starts out. The fans are screaming for Kipper before tonight's game. Before we all jump over, let’s remember that a team loses together and a team wins together.
Now thinking statistically, it's only three games, people, get a grip. Secondly, even if we were in trouble, it is not all Kipper's fault. Last time I heard, there are 4 forward lines, 6 defensemen, and a back up goalie (oh, by the way, the back up goalie is excluded). We need to realize one thing; simply put, a hockey game is pretty minor in life. After all, it is only a game.
I love the game of hockey. My wife says I live for hockey. I am enjoying being a fan and yes, I am an emotional fan. As a blogger, I state the facts; but I hear what people say I take offense at attacking at a player personally. I do not mind people attacking how said person plays. Yes, we can critique a player on his play. Whether we say good or bad, that is fine. But attacking his heritage or his smarts has nothing to do with how the player played.
As fans, we have the right to pull for our team or not pull for them. Do we not have a responsibility to treat the players with respect? As fans, we should stick up for our players and not jump in and degrade them every time they make a mistake. Hey, I know of what I speak. I am a Flames fan. I live and breathe through each save, hit, and goal. Yes, I am a true fan of the hockey league.
Why in the world can we, myself included, not get into our heads that we need to stick with our team through thick and thin. I do not mind if we get disappointed when our team stinks up the joint. But we have to accept that players are human, only that. They bleed and die their team colors.
My son has a lot of heroes and yes, mostly hockey ones You want to know why he loves the Flames players, but you know that even if they stink up the joint, they are still going to be his heroes Why? Simple - because he realizes hockey is just a game. What is really important is what is inside. In other words, my son is a fan of the Flames for who they are, not what they are. Please keep that in mind. As NHL fans, the players do a lot for us, and most of the time, they are pretty good guys.

P.S. The Flames Won tonight 5-4 Todd Bertuzzi leads the Flames with two goals Iggy, Boyd and Connie with singles. Also the Flames Actually break a 0-13 slump on the power play with three power play goals. The main concern is Kipper gave up 4 goals on 29 shots.
Another concern for the flames was the penalty kill it was only adequate as the Avs get 2 for 7. The Flames were also guilty of shabby defensive zone coverage. The Flames can not continue their play in zone and win games it will come back to haunt them.
Well written...P.S. I traded my seats for better ones...I got all 5 seats together....Let me know whe your leaving for So.Cal...Ray
I agree with your statement about name calling. As adults, we can attack issues, not personailities. To do otherwise lowers us to a child-like level of name calling. Also, I think the free agent market has created transient fans. In the good old days, you team was your team year after year. Good or bad, you stuck by them. Now, your favorite player could be gone overnight. What kind of loyalty does that generate?
Perfect!! to many fans, of any team are to quick to turn on their team. look at leaf fans as an opposite, they stick to their team no matter how bad they suck. I know its not all fans....
