The Chicago Black Hawks made me a believer once again as they passed the Vancouver Canucks in the second round of the playoffs. Mr. Patrick Kane showed to the hockey world why he is one of the best players in the world. Particularly, the seventh goal in game 6 was sick. It was terrific back hand.
While I am at it, that game six was one of the most entertaining games I have seen all season. During the third period, each team went up and down the ice, exchanging goals, defenses buckling over and over again. The Sundin goal was a great shot, the game was simply awesome.
The Red Wings and Ducks put on a show. What a classic 7 game series. I actually picked the Ducks to win the series. I really thought the Ducks defense, led by Pronger, would wear down the Wings' forwards. The real story of the Red Wings playoffs has to be Mr. Franzen. Wow, eh? The MVP of the playoffs. The unsung hero has to be Osgood; everybody calls him the weakest link of all the Wings, yet all he does is continue to win.
I cannot say the enough about the Duck goalie, Jonas Hiller. He was fantastic, facing nearly 40 shots in every game. The best line in the series was Getz, Perry, and Ryan. The main problem is that the Wings had four lines going all at once; the Ducks pretty much had one. The Wings are just too dangerous with four lines going.
In the East, we witnessed the two best players on the planet going on at once, in Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin. This had to be one of the most memorable series I had the privilege of watching. Every game was close until game 7, when Sydney took the game over and showed the world who he really was. Let’s not underestimate the two goalies in the series, Simeon Varlamov and Marc-Andre Fleury. They were both outstanding. Fleury and Varlmov will be NHL goalies for many years to come.
The key in the series was Gonchar, coming back in game 7 after the knee on knee hit by Ovechkin. You can never underestimate his leadership, let alone his ability as a player. He added tremendous lift to the Pens in game 7. Mark my words, Crosby is the best player in the game right now.
The last series was another classic between the Bruins and the Caines. The Bruins have to be given major kudos, coming back from 3-1 to force a game 7. But in end, Mr. Ward was an all star. Ward and a lot of experts picked him as the number one goalie for team Canada in Olympics. Now to say that Ward out-played Thomas and that was the reason the Caines won the series might be too hard on Thomas. Staal was fantastic in the series. He was a force to be reckoned with.
I cannot forget Kessel and Lucic, who were terrific in the series. Also watch for the Caines defense, who were very underrated in this series. They worked well together this whole series. Ward was and is Mr. Clutch in game sevens, isn’t he? Also how about Ward, never losing a series yet in the playoffs?
How Ek has not given you a blogging spot yet is beyond me, flamestr. I'm banned at the moment which kinds sucks, but at least I can still read blogs! Great read old friend
why did you get banned buddy?
great read flamestr. i've been a believer in this young hawks team ever since the Winter Classic and your reasons are exactly why. I don't think they can beat Detroit, but they're just like the Penguins and Capitals. They're never out of a game until they take themselves out.
Great job, my friend. Write on and write well. I enjoy it so very much
Great read FLAMETSR, I also believed in the Ducks after the quickly dispatched my Sharks like yesterday's news. Hiller was amazing. Should be a good series on east and west...
Let's just say I wrote a cuss word which passed through the censors and a referee caught it, gave me less than a minute to change it, and even though I changed it, I still got banned. Pretty ban mods on this site...didn't even give me a chance
AND, he threatened me....ridiculous. I told him to check with Ek about it but still no reply. I'm very upset about the way it was handled
