A FEW OBSERVATIONS OF MINE
I would like to try to figure out why players do not have respect for each other. What exactly goes into a player’s mind when he hits another player from behind? Let me explain something to the hockey player - if you see a hockey number from the back, do not hit him. Then there these stupid head hits. Please explain to me why we must see player continuing to do these hits. I just can not understand why I am continuing seeing these hits every single game. Sooner or later, the league has to figure out that maybe something has to be done.
Why must grown men have problems with not hitting people in the head? Its does not seem too hard to figure out that hitting the head could cause harm or discomfort to your opponent. What makes it worse, the brilliant player (yes I am being facetious) seems to think they need to take a jump, to make sure they get extra points for being idiots. They say: Well, I did not mean to, or It looks worse than it is. What exactly did they expect it to look like when they lift that elbow to hit the oppenets head? Oh kind sir, what exactly goes through one’s mind when that elbow goes up to that wonderful opponent’s head nearby?
The foot-in-mouth disease seems to be running rampant in the league. Said coach calls a player. Said player then goes to the media and says what’s in house stays in house. Yet, a week later, said player complains to media on how badly he is being mistreated or how unhappy he is. Said coach then goes to the media and says he is disappointed in said player for airing dirty laundry in public. Tell me - who are they kidding? They are both using the media to get the message out. What adds to the hypocrisy is that they both claim innocence.
Hoping players get hurt has to stop. I mean, fans hoping that players get injured is just not kosher. Really, do we want to harm people or wish harm to people? How bad would we feel if the player really did get hurt? Do we really want our team to win at the other players’ expense or health? I think we need to put this into perspective: it’s a stupid game! Let us try to remember that when we wish someone gets injured.
Why do users make personal attacks on the bloggers? These bloggers are doing this because they like doing it. I really do not mind disagreeing with them; it is the attacks that bug me. I personally admire them for their writing. I personally respect their beliefs even if sometimes I disagree with them. I love a good discussion between people it is when it becomes an integrity issue that it bugs me. When we attack people, what does that say about our integrity?
Please, we are adults. Please let us keep it respectful here.
Have you ever noticed something? The good team always score more goals. Just an observation of mine.

Morning Flames. Sentiments to start the day.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? They player hitting from behind or the player turning his back to said hitter a split second before impact? Guys are being taught from pee-wee on up to protect the puck by using their body as a sheild. Wearing a full face cage of course. Then when they get to the NHL low and behold their heads are exposed to the glass and dasher boards and stanchions and they're playing the way they've always been taught.
Awesome blog, Flame. Or should I say...rant. Hits from behind are horrible but we can't go overboard and try to take out all physicality. Just something to keep in mind.
I enjoyed this very much, FLAMESTR. Once I had kids I really realized this -- How well or poorly the Blues play REALLY DOESN'T MATTER!!! I always enjoy the "perspective check" you provide.
Solid, man. Just solid.
Great job Flame well thought out. We need to put an end to the premeditated stuff. The rest will always be a part of the game. In competition people will always have moments where they lose their heads. When the level of competition gets to where it is at the NHL level frustration wins over rationality sometimes and players lose it , people will never stop being human beings. I do agree that the premeditated stuff must go. Just because a player is ringing you up one night does not mean you can threaten that players career or health, it just can not be justified ! Great blog buddy
Hey flames Great postKash
Good Job!!! nice observations
Good thoughts Flamestr. Your humility should be contagious in the NHL, but we can only wish.
